GWU vs McGill

Hi everyone I’ve been admitted to both GWU and McGIll and am having a hard time narrowing it down to which one I should choose. I’m pretty set on majoring in political science, which makes me think that GW would be the better choice considering that I would be able to get political internships and stay connected to US politics, but McGill would be cheaper (I did get at $25,000/yr scholarship at GW, but my parents and I would still need to take on loans) and I do love Montreal.

George Washington: In DC so I would be able to stay connected to US politics and gain experience through internships, but it would cost significantly more.

McGill: Substantially cheaper. Unique opportunity to live in Montreal. Disconnected from US politics, and wouldn’t really be able to intern anywhere.

Please let me know what you think. Thanks in advance for your help!

You can do a semester exchange from McGill to GWU https://www.mcgill.ca/students/international/george-washington
That might be enough to help you get started on contacts that you would want to have.

The money you and your family don’t have to pay by choosing McGill could later be put toward grad school, or would allow you to take one of the famously unpaid/underpaid internships in DC after graduating.
