Gwu vs umd

Hi people,
What do you think the best college between these two in biology - pre med track?
THANKS :)

Are you in state or out of state for UMD?
Have you looked at the medical school acceptance rates for each program? Have you been to visit? There’s not a simple answer to this question.

the less expensive one: almost certainly UMD. save your money for med school since the med school won’t give a toot that you went to GWU.

First, thank you both for the answer. I really appreciate it.
GWU’s price is similar for me to UMD (Financial aid)
and I have visited both, but I don’t mind the differences and I don’t care whetherit is an urban or rural area. I don’t know how to find the me school acceptance rate. Can you help me with the website to find these information?
I only care about Academics/ opportunities for internships. (I guess these two are the core in getting into med school right?)
For the second time, thank you.

And I live in MD. But I can easily access both universities by metro. and I plan on living in my house through all 4 years of college.

marykaty, UMD has some info here:

http://www.ils.umd.edu/academics/pre-professional-education

However, know that these stats don’t mean very much. Most pre-med courses will curve course grades so that only a certain number of people will have the A’s in science courses that will make it worthwhile for them to even try to apply to medical school. In other words, UMD’s rating of say 80% of those who apply are accepted into a med school is so high because UMD has already made it unlikely that those who are not likely to get in will even apply. Other schools will set a bar below which faculty will not write letters of recommendation to med school.

The core of med school admissions, once it’s been determined that you took all the expected courses, are GPA, course rigor, grades in core hard science courses, letters of recommendation, interview, research experience, etc. Somewhere in this mix insert score on MCAT. Notice that “where applicant went to school” is not on the list.
