My two top choices are GWU and U of R. While both are amazing schools, they offer different undergraduate experiences. I'm not sure yet if I see myself at a small research college or a city school with a large student body.

I'm leaning toward GWU but I'm not sure. Please help me, especially students who have already made this hard decision!

Sometimes I think it's an easy one, though, because snowy Rochester doesn't even hold a candle to Washington, D.C.

Sunshine vs. Snow...hmmm...which would you pick?

PS I am currently listed as a psychology major with a double minor in music and english, but that will most likely change :)

Difficult choice because both are great schools. I’m GWU '81 and my son is UR '08. If you’re going to minor in music, UR hands down.
However, Rochester as a city is, well, is Rochester. You’ll have to depend on Campus Activities for your entertainment.
Attending GWU, DC will be your playground.
In short, you have to visit both schools and overnight if possible. You should have visited both schools some time in February to give you an idea what winters would be like
As far as academics, I believe UR may have an edge.

mom0809 - I love to sing, but I’m not sure just yet whether or not I want to commit to a music minor. The main reason why I’m still considering Rochester is because of Eastman; it’s a hard opportunity to pass up.

blue182king - That’s incredible that your friend turned down Brown! That was my top choice and I was denied. Is he/she majoring in International Relations or Political Science? Is that why they chose DC - because of the internship and career opportunities offered by the government?

Thank you so much! Right now I’m leaning toward GWU - I visited last Monday and I absolutely loved it! :)

This was the EXACT decision that I had to make last year. I chose GWU, and am SO happy with my choice. Rochester doesn’t even compare to Washington DC in the number of things there are to do/internships/basically everything. However, I’m a political science major, so being in DC was really important to me.

I’m so excited! And yes- the cherry blossoms were beautiful! I think we caught the tail-end of the season but they were still great.

Also, for all of you current GWU students, which dorm do you recommend living in? I heard you can get stuck at “The Vern” so I don’t think I want to live there. But I’m also not sure if Thurston Hall is for me (although it looked pretty fun!) Thoughts?
