I was waitlisted at GWU and I'm wondering what my chances are for being accepted. What are GW's wait list stats- that is how many people are accepted and how many are waitlisted in total?

I am not sure about howw many, but until May 1st many spaces will end up opening. In the interim, if you have something extra to add to your application, send it. As well, show interest by calling once in a while, for any questions you may have. I wish you luck

I’m with Multitasker - show that your interest is still there and make your name heard. I don’t know whether GW ranks their WL but I highly doubt it. So the more they know your name, the more likely you are to be considered first when they begin filling the spots they have left with waitlisted students still wanting to attend GW. Does your WL letter say anything about how many kids were taken from the WL last year?

I don’t know where I had heard this, if it was last year or when my sibling was accepted, but the waitlist is not going by numbers-i.e you’ re number 23 of 700, etc.- It’s more like you are place in that waitlist and is up to you once the space opens to “earn it”, by calling, showing interest, ans the insomniac77 said, let them remember who you are.

I was talking with a admissions rep(kinda unofficially) and she said that they lowered their acceptance rate because last year their yield was too high. She basically just said that every year the number of wait lists they accept has been as little as 8 or as much as 250. She said this year is really a gamble due to the economy and the amount of aid that GW gives a lot of students seem more interested…So who knows…
