@alanislguerra YAAAAS (i did everything on my own because my mom knows nothing about this and my dad well he doesn’t live with us but I’m hoping she can take these instructions. i would have given it to my brother he goes to GW but he doesn’t come back until the 5th and my tests are on Monday and Tuesday ) What state are you living in?
@Ivanne Yes. Here’s what happened. First she received an email on 3/29 instructing her to check her GW admissions activity center. Since I have access to her emails it popped up on my phone the same time it popped up on her phone. She was with her Dad in the car on the way home from school (she was driving so she couldn’t check it). Then a second email popped up from “Student Financial Assistance” saying “Congratulations on Your Acceptance to GW”. I completely lost it and I was home alone at the time. I know our neighbors thought I had lost my mind! Then she got emails from the Elliot School and the University Honors Program! When I checked her activity center it showed she received the Presidential Academic Scholarship but no financial aid. I called her college counselor at her high school who told me how to get to the other awards. She and I were both in tears! When I accessed the GWBanweb I could see the Stafford Subsidized/Unsubsidized loans totaling $5,500. When I attempted to determine if she received an financial aid separate from the Stafford it said “No financial aid information is available for you at this time”. When I called the school they confirmed that this statement meant she did not receive any financial aid other than the Stafford. I believe that they update the students portal the minute they accept the student. I would hate to think they would leave a family in limbo right up until May 2nd.
God I remember when she was accepted to Loyola-Chicago with a huge scholarship, accepted to American with no money and wait listed at Wellesley. She liked Loyola but did not gain honors program entrance because her scores weren’t high enough…and was wait listed at Wellesley because of her scores but they loved her resume. She “worked the wait list” but GW was her number #1.
I am praying for your family to get what
you need to send your child to GW. God answers prayers.
@GWdreamteam1998 The college process was so daunting on my own but I managed to get a free ride so I must have done something right on my own and I’m from the smallest state in the country, Rhode Island <3
Let me tell you about me:
I live in califorina
When I applied I had 3.9 weighted GPA but now i have a 4.37
I didn’t submit my SAT or ACT
I have a lot of EC
4 AP Classes and 8 honors classes for all 4 years
in MUN, president of a club, and on the board for MUN and CSF
My brother goes there and hopefully that helps
My call in didn’t go as well as i hoped because i was nervous and i felt like i was rushing him through it
I emailed them right after i was waitlisted, and then i emailed them like on monday and called in twice after the actual call in. the first time they told me to email them and then the second time I asked if they got my email and i talked to the person but he didn’t tell me anything about my chances.
I emailed my GW cali representative as well but he hasn’t answered
Thank you @HappyFace2018 @GWdreamteam1998 good luck, I really hope you get in!
@GWdreamteam1998 I come from a military family
Live in Rhode Island to divorced parents who DESPISE eachother so I was taught how to keep the peace among people which led to me wanting to keep the peace among nations
5 siblings whom I care for

varsity policy debate team
started up a girls computer club because I was inspired by a program at brown that i was in called spira and artemis and now there is word that a computer class will be offered next year
I’m in my school’s NAACP and am politically active
I got a full ride through NROTC Immediate Scholarship Reservation program
I’m a recurring soloist in my school’s chorus

Only 1 honors class was really offered at my school and I took that
I’m in the cum laude society
Active in church

Got a scholarship that send me to DC for a politics program
Spend summers volunteering at schools getting kids ready for kindergarten
Member of the Science Olympiad and have state placements
and I stalked GW leading up to applying with the promotional videos on you tube
OH and I was also put on a committee (by my principal) to send more students on the trip I went on for which I am active within the alumni community for my school
I also love bagels with avocado slices!
aaaaand I didn’t submit my SAT scores which I’m seeing was a big mistake…
@alanislguerra im in xc and track lol forgot that. wow you are amazing! my dad has connections to GW and i dont know if i want to use them because i dont want to get in because of that. but i might do it… i dont know i feel bad as well. you see not much is offered at my school and so i tried to do as much possible i just wish i did more
@GWdreamteam1998 Thanks! And yeah but GW should be aware of that, my school is ultra competitive so the top 20% of my graduating class is separated by tenths and even hundredths of a point as the lowest in the top 20% is like a 93-ish
@GWdreamteam1998 one of the mantras of my school is “what can you do for classical” along with a greek motto because our school is based in classical greek teachings thus the name classical
@alanislguerra ugh this process is murderous
I’m really praying they call me but I feel like if they do it’ll be when I’m taking AP/IB exams lol
I also feel like since I didn’t submit my test scores it might have hurt my application
want to just cry
@alexxxcee RIGHT!!
I also want to just cry I love GW and getting waitlisted a week after I visited was just painful lol I’m also afraid of not receiving any financial aid
@alexxxcee I’m trying to convince my dad to try and pay even if FA isn’t that much. i know they have this thing where they give money if someone in the fam. already goes there
@alexxxcee SAAAAME
when american works during the weekend but GW leaves their waitlisters to die. lol thats the only thing that i wish they would work during the weekend
I definitely agree they should have hours they are open this weekend or all colleges should have made the decision day may 2 this year. I’m not sure getting in off the waitlist Friday was a good thing since we have no info on financial aid. My daughter and I are both in tears today not knowing what she should do.
Did anyone else torture themselves by joining the GW facebook group even after being waitlisted lmao because I did and I just cry every time
