I didn't get into Georgetown SFS (my first choice) but I got a pretty good financial aid package from GW - $35,500 total, so I'm really considering it. Basically, I just want to know what the overall educational experience is like at the EISA. Will I be getting a strong/respected education? Are the professors top-rate? Are the students passionate? Obviously, the location is amazing for studying foreign policy, but what is George Washington's reputation in the area?

I'm really disappointed about SFS so I want to get myself excited about GW. Comments from current students and anyone who knows the school well?

I'm in the same boat as Bella. Got into SFS, but they gave me a $1,000/yr scholarship. GWU have much more. Or I could go to UCLA, for cheaper than both.

The ESIA is one of the crown jewels of GW (I'm in the ESIA, so I can say that). ESIA students are passionate and motivated. The location of GW in DC offers a unique place to not only study IA, but work in IA. GW has a metro on campus and is very accessible to everything in DC. ESIA students intern at many of the government agencies: State, DOD, White House, Peace Corps and NGOs and Think Tanks: CSIS, Red Cross, CFR. The location also draws great professors like Ambassador Shinn (served in Ethiopia) who teaches about US policy in Africa and Ambassador Gnehm (served in Jordan, Kuwait and Australia) who teaching policy in the mid-east. Not only do you get a solid academic experience, but you also hear about amazing personal stories that bring the subject matter to life.

At ESIA and more broadly GW, you get amazing academics blended with the opportunities of professional experiences.
