Gym at Cornell

Did you guys pay for the year gym membership?

Obviously you don't know how much I'm going to use the gym, and I'm unsure myself. But does it give you access to the pool? Are the climbing walls of high quality? I'm going to be doing a ton of intramurals and a couple clubs sports, so I don't know how much time I'll have, but do you still find time to get to the gym?

Same question, (in your opinion) is it worth the fee?

haha I added the gym membership on reverse logic…if I’m paying extra for it, I’ll definitely be encouraged to use it often.

it is for sure, its not that much compared to other gym memberships, you get a bunch of high quality facilities, plus u dont get fat

Can we sign up any time, later in the year? And I second the OP’s question about access to the pool.

Some PE classes include a gym membership with their fee. I signed up for my gym membership before thinking about PE classes, and now I am taking one that includes the membership. Will i have to pay the PE class fee?

the gyms aren’t that great at cornell, but they’re better than nothing, i suppose…

keep in mind that lines are long right around the “rush hours” - ie: around dinner time and lunch time. and you have to sign up for time slots for the treadmills and ellipticals. it’s much easier to just run on campus than to pay.

i agree but if you’re not fit to run on hills…you will definitely want a gym.

it’s best to go during off peak hours…i found this on ask uncle ezra website:

There are pools in Teagle and Helen Newman. Your access to those pools is independent of your membership status with CFC. Please check their .

The gyms have pretty much everything a reasonable lifter/cardio person would need, towels, a ton of classes, and a yearly membership of $145, which is a great deal for people who use the gym reasonably often. It includes the summer, if you’re remaining in Ithaca for research, work, study.

@Feral, you don’t have to pay the PE class fee. Those classes are effectively free with a gym membership. What they do the first class is have anyone who doesn’t have a gym membership sign up for one.

ok, thats good.

When does the gym membership start? does it start on the 21th?

16th actually.

EDIT: Actually, nevermind. This schedule doesn’t appear to be up to date.

Does all the building have a swimming pool or just helen and teagle? cuz they are really far away from west campus!

noyes does not have a pool.

teagle is meant to be an in-between classes type of location. helen newman mostly for freshman although many still swear by it

What!!! We have to book a time for using treadmills and ellipticals? lolz…are the weight machines/equipment always packed?

cornell fitness centers are no 24hr fitness or whatever…lol…

they’re closer to YMCA gym…
