Gym facilities & Hours

I tried and (...relatively) liked the main one. I mean, enough overipped jocks to start a bad WB teen drama but the facilities are top-notch. The only thing is that it was keuh-row-ded. Felt like cattle and had a little miss D-cup-but-no-bra literally rip me off a treadmill once my 30 mins were up. (of course, I forgave her :D)

Are there any down time? Or even the mythical dead gym time?

I know that there's like a mini teeny gym on the 10th floor of EC, but are there any other of these "stations" around campus? They tend to be empty.

interesting.....sounds like i need to frequent the columbia gym more often

i think there's another one of those mini gyms in some other dorm building but i think they only have cardio machines

also the gym facilities at columbia are anything but top notch. NYU's facilities make columbia's look amateurish. Don't even get me started on the facilities at the med center...if you can even call them such.

it's true, our gym isn't that great. honestly, my high school (and others, i'm sure) had better facilities.

there is also another mini-gym on EC 16, identical to the 10th floor one i believe. you could also try working out on mornings (especially on weekends), but i've never seen the gym really empty out.

crowded because it's beginning of the year, people have more time and less self-esteem. They're all trying to get in shape and get laid. Give it a couple of weeks, people will begin to get out of shape again and the gym will free up considerably. 7-8am is bad and 5:30-8pm is bad, other times you'll be fine.

Personally I can't think of what more I could want from columbia's gym. The cardio machines are all new (regularly replaced), the weights are fine. It's all looking and working great.

I agree, I like the gym. More space would be nice but its NY and that's an expensive wish.

Also agree with the beginning of the year thing. It'll be the same after winter break (ever wonder why gyms start showing commercials and giving discounts on year-long memberships? They want to trap the people with resolutions since they know these people will come a few times and then quit.)

Until the Resolutioners are out in full force in January, before they all quit by mid-February.

To which are you referring? The new NYU gym supposedly apparently nice, but the old one on Mercer Street is a dump.
