Gym grades

Well I know at my school gym doesn't count for GPA, but I was wondering if colleges take that into account. Because I know that with last year's and this year's gym grades, my GPA would be lower. I got a B both last year and likely this year because of stupid PhysEd attendance policies. For each quarter: 1 absence = B, 2 absences= C+, and 3 or more abscences is an automatic failure for the quarter. Nothing is excused, including APs, field trips, and doctors notes, so every time you miss you need to make up. But when I missed a bunch of classes each quarter for debate and latin and spanish and science research field trips and also for AP tests, I only made up enough classes to not fail. So will colleges give a flying f.u.ck. about my gym grades?

THAT IS COMPLETELY ****ING RIDICULOUS!!!

1) talk to your school principal, if he does not do anything, go to your superintendent, if he does not do anything, go to the school board, if they do not do anything, sue the school, I’M NOT ****ING AROUND!!! YOU HAVE RIGHTS!!!

contact the National Youth Rights Association (NYRA) for help about this. if you attempt a lawsuit of any kind on your own, especially if you win and bring about needed change, that would be a fabulous hook on any application. (sorry if it seems like I’m getting worked up, it just ****es me off to no end when hardworking students are taken advantage of by unjust policies like this one). private message me if you have any more questions about law suits etc… I have a lot of friends in NYRA and am an ardent supporter of youth rights. (my friend sued her city for unjust curfew laws and won btw)

2) I’m sure that schools would not care too much, especially if you got your guidance counselor to explain the situation in his/her letter of rec to the school.

Chance Me!?!?!

Lol thanks. I don’t think I’ll really do anything about it, because it’s just 2 Bs and neither goes into my GPA. What I’m really concerned about is whether or not colleges will care about that. Because my GPA is otherwise a 3.99 and it would suck if they cared about that.

But yeah I know it’s ridiculous. We have a program called SOS (save our seniors) that runs second semester senior year to try and prevent seniors from failing and being unable to graduate, and there’s always a bunch of kids going to Ivies and other top schools on the SOS list just because of Gym (failing even one year of Gym in NY makes you ineligible to graduate). It’s sooo messed up.

I wouldn’t worry about it. I had the same fears this semester (my PE teacher was a Nazi, no one except the xc kids could run a mile fast enough for an A). So I went and talked to my guidance counselor about it. She said it would be fine and that it wouldn’t really affect my application (luckily I ended up with an A- anyway, I still have NO idea how given that I got a D on the final run… 13:00 for 1 1/2 miles is a D. Really.)

Anyway, that is really messed up. I would suggest having your parent email the principal, especially given that you have to take gym all four years (that sucks…)

Oh and if you want, please chance me/give some advice. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1164347-advice-incoming-junior.html

don’t worry about it colleges dont care about PE.
