What are the differences between Harvard, Yale and Princeton? The pros, the cons. And is any one better than the other two?

Well since you're posting on the Yale forum, you'll encoutner alot of bias. Harvard is good, but they're reputation seems to come from their graduate school. Yale is a very good combo of both graduate and undergraduate studies, but Princeton, AHHHH, it just SOUNDS better. Prince...ton.... ahhhh... I hope i don't get flamed for saying that on this board (I applied Princeton ED, btw). :0

haha, hobbes, you'll get flamed for sure.

charlos, it would take about a year to answer that question fully. And there really isn't a "better" one--while Princeton is better for me, Yale is better for this board's regulars, and Harvard is better for others. I would do some online research on the HYP admissions sites and get some info from a GC. You'll figure out which one suits you best.

And what about Columbia?

I believe the question asked about H, Y, and P. :)

Hobbes, your "Prince...ton" to me is just "PTon". :)

Prince-ton.. prince as in huge enormous prick. ;) Want a real feel for the Ivies? Take the 'Which Ivy League Are YOU?' Quiz and read all the results. Most accurate summary I've ever seen... 'Congratulations, Harvard. You never have to do another impressive thing in your life.'

I took this quiz, and my university, as it said, is Yale. Good quiz!

i can't believe they actually put my school in that quiz...

I visited all three in a row last year. I totally fell in love with Yale. It just felt right. Harvard and Princeton may be just barely ranked higher than Yale by U.S. News, but that's the one method that works for U.S. News. Which is better is totally subjective and depends on your personal criteria.

I too fell in love upon visiting--Yale just has the sparkle of specialness. I liked its sense of community, I liked its emphasis on the undergraduate experience, and I felt at ease as the floaty-boaty humanities girl that I am. Harvard was well and good; Princeton I didn't see--it seemed conservative for my taste.

(This is totally the least objective post ever. I have contributed nothing to the ongoing H-Y-P debate. Oh well.)

Clearly the answer is P

Columbia rules! hahaha.... coz Columbia produced more Nobel laureats than these three schools.

I agree with phage..
Columbia does RULE!!!!!

That is why they did not include C. They only wanted to compare H, Y and P becuase columbia kills them all!

you know it!!

er... or because columbia is so far behind we don't bother mentioning it ;)
