ha another What are my chances

SAT: verbal - 710, math - 600, writing 0 730
Weighted GPA: 4.1 (this is for my junior year, it would probably be higher if it was cumulative of 9th, 10th, and 11th)

Taken hardest workload possible (all honors and APs since sophomore year)
I got one C my junior year in honors math analysis

Editor of my school newspaper for three years straight
Press editor of North Carolina Youth Legislature
Recieved several awards including HOBY leadership award, model press member, Susan B Anthony Humanities award, Rotary Leadership
Inducted into National Honors Society my sophomore year
Traveled as a Student ambassador with people to people program
Winner of school's creative writing contest
Run cross country and horseback ride
Over 100 hours of community service

I'm worried about my junior year grades as they were not particularly good, I'm confident my essays will be good because writing is my strong point, and i am taking three aps my senior year
I'm white, christian, and have no legacies at NYU

So what do ya'll think...?

Do you know what school you're applying to for NYU? That could affect your chances, especially if you're applying to Stern. With that said, you look like a great contender for NYU; I wouldn't worry. Your GPA and SAT scores are fantastic (don't worry about the C; I got in with a C in junior year math too).

Good luck!

thanks for your response!
I'll probably apply to the school of arts and sciences, maybe the gallatin school of individualized study (i need to learn more about that one)
I am mainly worried just because my junior year grades aren't fantastic, but i'm hoping NYU will really take a look at the courses i took because they were the hardest i could take

what school do ya go to in NC? are you in the triangle like me?

i live out by the beach in wilmington, nc

You're absolutely fine for anything except stern. even then u have a good shot. only thing that hurts you at stern is your math SAT. rather low for a sternie

I would say you are ok for CAS, although I would stress to try and raise the math score to at least 650. NYU seems to be very focused on test scores, so if you can do that, you will be a lock. However, I hope you are able to take on the burden of paying full price or at least not having your full need met. NYU is notorious for not meeting need.

Good Luck!

BTW, as long as your verbal scores are good (which they are), your math score shouldn't hurt you too much. I had the exact same score (and my two other math scores from previous testing rounds were 570 and 540) with great verbal scores.

GOOD LUCK!

thanks so much for all of your responses! this really helps me alot
