Haas Acounting Courses

So I am an Econ major and my first semester is spring 09. Along with getting my Econ degree, I want to take most of the Haas Accounting courses so that I will qualify for the CPA exam when I graduate. However, I noticed on the Haas website that priority is given to Haas students for registering in accounting courses during the semester.

How popular are the accounting courses? Will I have trouble registering as a Non Haas student? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

bump

i have the same question as well.

The 2 cores 102A/B should not be difficult to get into. The electives (intermediate, advance, tax, audit, etc) may be harder to get into.

If you just need to get the units, I would recommend taking them via one of the online universities. The are expensive and accelerated so you can get the units done quickly.

try summer school

I thought it would be the other way around because business majors are required to take the lower accounting classes but not the more advanced ones. Thanks though.

102A/B is a core class and offer more often in the large room in Cheit. It's a fairly large class room and can that can accommodate 100+ students. The advanced classes are have around 30 people and are scheduled with less frequency.

from the raise of hands approx 10% of the class are non biz majors.
but first day of class the prof gets really to the point and kinda mean to non biz majors. kinda feel sry for them.
iono about the higher lvl ones, but i do think its possible for u to get into the class provided u have an early telebears appoint

if i may ask, exactly how was the professor mean to the non-business major students in the class?

You can also take basic accounting at a juco -- it ain't rocket science, and knowing all that theory (taught in UC) is not really necessary to pass the CPA.

I already took Financial and Managerial at my JC. I'm at the Intermediate Accounting level. I'm gonna try to get into that class in the summer.

http://summer.berkeley.edu/mainsite/2009_catalog
they are offered this summer

Its hard for non-biz majors to get into intermediate because there's a max of aroudn 30. I was number 2 on the wait list and then there were 2 open seats. But I'm pretty sure a new biz major wanted to get in and he leapfrogged me. I didn't get into the class.

for summer school, I don't they reserve seats.
