Haas applicants-what classes did you take in your first semester?

Just for reference..

math
econ
english
env. sci.

btw, are you asking ALL haas applicants, or just the ones that got accepted in the end? it seems like the latter would be more helpful to you.

Anthro 2AC
Celtic R1A
ESPM 50AC
Math 1A

I AP'd out of a whole bunch of stuff.

I am asking all haas applicants, although the latter will be more helpful.
Was econ doable with math? many people did not recommend taking econ first semester because it's hard..

If you look now at the breadth guidelines, the nine breadth requirement has changed to seven to follow L & S. You now can't have any satisfied with AP classes. So you have to take the four prereq's and the seven breadth's before the end of spring semester sophomore year.

You can't AP out of anything... does that mean you have to take R1A and R1B regardless?

For L&S, you can AP out of the R&C requirements, as well as the Subject A (basic writing), and the US History & Culture requirements, but not the 7 breadth requirements.

You can still AP out of R&C, Math, and Econ for Haas under the new admission system. It is on the following webpage:

Undergraduate Program - Admissions - Haas School of Business

If you look at the new information posted on the Haas website, all four prereq's cannot be fulfilled by AP.

No, the website states you can still AP out of Econ, R&C and Math because L&S accepts them also, particularly for the Economics Department. They state that you cannot AP out of the new 7-Breadth requirement. Either that or they really need to change their website. I got this from the following link:

Undergraduate Program - Admissions - Haas School of Business

It states first that Econ, R&C and Math can be AP'd out of. Then later it states that for Fall 09 applicants you cannot AP out of the breadth classes. If this isn't true they really need to change their website in order not to confuse those applying.

That is what I meant. For new freshman the requirements have changed. But I was under the impression when we met with the Haas advisors that all prereq's have to be taken and not opted out by AP. I would check with the Haas advisors and confirm.

doing econ and math together is not bad at all. econ is not that hard of a class, not even for first semester. advisors and counselors tend to try to scare you out of anything that has a chance of being even slightly challenging. i find it annoying. especially if you take their advice and find your schedule to be too easy.
