Haas-CONFUSION!!

I am currently a HS junior and was researching Berkeley as a college choice. I am pretty set on majoring in Business, and was curious about the admission to Haas.

I understand that you apply to Haas as a sophomore and attend the next year, but i was wondering.. What do most business-oriented Cal students do if they are not accepted to Haas?

Do most people transfer schools... or are there other opportunities available at Berkeley for a Business Major?

Thank so much for any answers!!

Most Haas rejects typically go towards Economics because all but one of the Econ prerequisite courses overlap with the Haas prerequisite courses. However, Economics is also a capped major with an application process and you might not get into Econ either. Other backup majors include Political Economies of Industrial Societies and Environmental Economics.

it's kind of a hierarchy at cal, actually: business > econ > env. econ > peis

legal studies might be somewhere in there, too

i don't think it's necessarily like that. yes, haas in terms of business-intended students is obviously the top, but after that, the second-tier of the so-called hierarchy consists of all the aforementioned majors, IMO.

my experience with cal and the econ-related majors would put actual econ above any other form of econ. just look at the prereqs and the difficulty of getting into the majors. after biz, econ is obviously the hardest, with its mandate of getting a 3.0 in EVERY class to be sure of admission. and the average gpa in prereqs for econ majors is a 3.4. for peis, all you have to take is ias 45 and get a C in it. not exactly hard. i don't know about env. econ, but as it's not an impacted major, i think all you need are Cs in your prereqs. big deal. and legal studies is also a pretty easy major to get into.
