Here's my classes, grades, and EC's. Is it possible for me to get into Haas?

where are the STAT20/21 AND Math 16b classes? Woo, your class load at freshman is so light.(but trade in with high grade score) …i can not figure it out why you need so many language classes
so it depended on how the haas committees look at your course load (light) vs. grade (excellent)

Your grades look good. I think the range of your language classes and the diversity of your internships/jobs give you a few good opportunities to create compelling essays that bring everything together. As pointed out above, I think one thing that may help round out your academics next semester is to take more classes for a letter grade (the number I’d suggest is 3, if not 4). This will help legitimize your GPA.

It is possible to receive credit for the stats requirement at Haas with an equivalent class (as determined by Assist.org) at a community college, provided you took the class before you matriculated to Berkeley. If you took the class the summer before your freshman year, you may want to confirm that you technically haven’t matriculated to Berkeley yet and that the class is thus valid. (the Economics major, on the other hand, requires calculus-based statistics, which is a lot harder to find at community colleges.)

Given that you are waiving out of 2 R&C classes, took Stats at a community college, and are waiting to take Math 16B in the spring of your sophomore year, I think it becomes that much more important to take at least 3 (but at least 4 would be ideal) classes for a letter grade in the spring to legitimize your GPA. It’s also good that your signing up for UGBA 102A, towards this end.

Have you taken the Chinese language placement test given by the department? It is possible that the Chinese 1 course at your CC would put you at a more advanced course than Chinese 1A at Berkeley.

Everyone has a chance to get into haas. At your level, the majority of people are equally qualified, so it’s often said to come down to a crapshoot. Refer to my thread for a bunch more information or pm me!

I would recommend you take Math 16B before your sophomore spring semester. Haas is really into their admits having a strong calculus background, so it’s recently become one of the more heavily weighted prereqs.

If you can, I would recommend doing Econ 1 and 16B in the same semester by switching it out with one of your other classes. If you can’t/would prefer not to, Econ 1 in the fall would be the better option.
