So all of college decisions have come out, and these three colleges are the main ones I am looking at. Of USC's Marshall, UC Berkeley's Haas, and NYU's Stern, what are the pros and cons of each of these business schools?

Thank you!

With ranking, usually it’s Stern, Haas, and Marshall. I think the big question is what you want to accomplish from going to undergrad business school and where you want to work/live after graduating. Speaking from my experience at Haas, it’s a hot school for the big recruiters. If you want a career in the ABCs (accounting, banking, and consulting), you will have multiple opportunities to get recruited from big companies. If you want to do marketing, advertising, or HR, Haas isn’t so great with recruiting with these fields (I learned that the hard way for marketing).

What do you want to accomplish after graduating? If you want to get an MBA, you don’t necessarily need a business degree for undergrad.

^ for undergrad? i know that rankings aren’t everything (if even anything, aside from perhaps reputation leading to better recruitment?) but i’m pretty sure haas undergrad is ranked above stern undergrad.
here are some "popular’ rankings (whether you buy into it is up to you):

either way @OP: can you give more details about yourself? education/career goals, where you’re from, whether or not money is an issue, etc etc etc.

If you want to be a banker, go to Stern.

If you want to be a baller, go to Marshall.

To crowslayer: Money isn’t a problem at all for USC and Berkeley, because of financial aid and scholarships.

NYU will be around 32k a year for me vs. about 10k for the other two schools, but I do hear that I could try to negotiate with NYU for a better financial package?

As for my future goals, I really am not sure what I’d like to do, but I know I am interested in business.

Thank you for your help!

If you want to work in NY, go to Stern.
If you want to work in SF, go to Haas.
If you want to work in LA, go to Marshall.

Simple as that. :)

Haas isn’t guaranteed…if you’re entering as a freshman. That is one Haas con.
Haas benefits: smaller and prestigious.

P.S. You don’t need an undergrad biz degree to do business. You’ll need an MBA if you want to move up. There is little benefit to an MBA-lite degree for undergrad. Just my $0.02.
