What do u guys think my chances are?

I say in
How long did it take to move up in organizations at a CC?

I'm going to a CC next year to do IGETC and transfer out, at CSU right now :(
and want to try and get some more EC's (even though I know they aren't close to as important as say, HS admissions)

Eh, I was going to apply to Haas next fall, but will be applying to UCB for Econ.... I'm going to wuss out, haha... Haas is tough.

Looks solid, good luck to you.

honestly as you probably know already, HAAS is extremely hard to get into, ive seen plenty of people with 4.0's on this forum from CC's apply last year get rejected, with similar EC as you.

Accepted:
Rejected: UCB
Applied from: PCC
Major: Haas Business
Cumulative GPA: 3.9
Transferrable GPA: 4.0
Relevant transfer programs:
Relevant EC's: Student Council Advisor, Congressional Gold Award, Honor Society, Dean's List
Work Experience: Wealth Management Internship
Essay: This is what probably threw me out of the pool. I should have revised it more and spent more time on it.
Comments: All PreReqs and Breadth completed. Haas '08 anyone?

Here's one of the ones I was manage to dig up from last year.

Also, 3 of my friends go to Berkeley and have applied to HAAS, they say the admittance is extremely selective. All 3 of my friends are really nervous about getting rejected from HAAS even though they have kept up over 3.5, been apart of the Asian Business Association there and spent countless hours on their essays. It's just my opinion that even with a 4.0 from a CC it's still extremely hard to get into HAAS. I'd put you at a 10-30% chance to get in.

i apologize if this was too blunt, I am just trying to be as helpful as possible.

ya i know haas is really competitive. Thanks for the input rchang. Im actually pretty worried about not getting into haas.

oh yea kmizzle i started the Business club, so i automatically became president

Remind me to never attend any of your motivational speeches.

well lackofsense if you want me to cradle you in my arms and tell you that you're getting into every school you're applying to I will do so.

But the fact remains HAAS is effin' hard to get into.

I provided a long detailed post that is credible instead of "yo bro, yea i think ur in h3h k good luckz bye!". "ur in" !

I see why you named yourself Lackofsense now :).

People that don't pick up on sarcasm, it makes you question their intellect.

Funny I was thinking the same thing. What makes you think I wasn't being sarcastic? Makes me question your intellect :)

"Also, 3 of my friends go to Berkeley and have applied to HAAS, they say the admittance is extremely selective.
If you're asserting that Haas admission is difficult for transfer students because it is difficult for continuing students, then that's a wrong conclusion based on exaggerated anecdotal experiences. How is a 53% acceptance rate considered "extremely selective?" Your friends may call it whatever they want, but it's way overblown. It's not that tough for continuing UC Berkeley students.

While I was never a CC student or even interested in Haas (so I may be completely wrong here), I think that it's difficult for the transfer students because there are so many well-qualified applicants and so many applicants who probably will not finish the pre-reqs. This attributes to the low acceptance rate. Those who probably won't finish the pre-reqs are rejected outright. In addition to this, there are so many students with 4.0's that admission committees have to look beyond strong academic performance. You should understand that you have a high GPA, so you can at least get your foot in the door for consideration.

Jordan, I'm also applying to Haas. I'm a out of state student so my chances are slimmer but i still hope in best.

my stats are

PA resident and CC student
GPA 4.0
Major Pre reqs - some completed, 3 classes taking this semester (Statistics, Intro to Bus and Literature)
Breath 7/9 -physics taking this semester
Already taken Fin. acc I and II, and Managerial Acc
Essays: i can't rate but spent good time on them
EC- PTK member, deans list, summer leadership institute, selected for Leadership program this spring, part time job, volunteer in school clubs, volunteer in adult literacy center etc

I wanna get in soo bad but I'm quite skeptical because there is such a strong competition :(

is breath the same thing as igetc???

I'm not from CA so I'm not sure but I think that IGETC are all the classes that would transfer if you go to UC and other unis. Breath are a specific number and type of classes (Arts&Humanities, Bio Science, Intern.studies etc) that you have to have done before enrolling to and graduating from UCB or probably other UC

I really want to get in UCB Haas School of Business. Please chance me as cruel as possible. No pity or mercy...... Thank you guys!! I really appreciate it.

daaaaaaaaaaaaang look at those 4.0's man lucky im an econ major.

Hongda, I think your chances are really high!!! You have everything they are looking for... if you have all breath and prereq. finished by the time you enroll you should be fine. So if I was you I would be packing my stuff :)

i won't say the chances are high.
TBH i can't say chances are high for any stat at all
if u guys have researched enough through the people who got rejected, or spoken enough with 1/2 of the advisers in ur CC, or went up to haas and actually talked with them, i don't think his chances could even be put in moderate zone
think about it this way, last year there were 1300 applicants. this year was 1800.
the year before, the average transfer GPA was 3.92, i don't recall what ranking haas was then. the average gpa then dropped to 3.87 last year, and then haas ranked 3rd. this year it went up in applicants due to the rankings, and so would the quality of applicants.
seriously 3.9 and 4.0 belong in the same pile. if u look at those rejected and those accepted they are both as likely to get rejected.

as one of the threads pointed out, they are looking for something unique.
psh no one knows whats unique enough for haas, only the admin officers know what they are looking for THIS YEAR. high end schools are constantly changing the pool of they admits every year, who knows what they would fancy this year. Those that fit THEIR category would be an IN.

from what i heard from the rest of the 34958734895 advisers, if ur all pretty close, its pretty much RANDOM. heres a quote from one of them, "if anyone think they can predict the chances of a haas applicant, they are a fool"

The personal statement will make or break you. Plain and simple.

true... totally agree with lackofsense
but basically this year's haas topic is not their "usual"
the prompt smells more like USC than the usual haas IMO
but oh well i don't know if they brought down the tone of the haas supplementary essay this year and emphasize more strongly on the UC app first prompt...
meh i really have no idea.
anyone has any comment on that?
