I applied to stanford university in palo alto in december and i got a letter few days ago that said that they approve my admission

is it a joke because i thought i had no shot of gettn in i decided to apply the weak before the deadline and wrote my essays in under 2 hours

did anybody else get a letter? my stats aint that good gpa 3.3 and sat 19 something i only do track and field since senior year and was on school gov when i was a freshmen but i think it helped that i'm 1/8 black because i put i was african american and ive also gotten like 20 grand in outside scholarships for doing nothing its really funny because my family is so much richer than the white boys i know

is anyone else gotten in, or was stanford just joking with me?

wow...thanks for making me feel really worthless...I'm 100% black and i haven't gotten any kind of outside scholarship money like that lately...and i'm not rich at all...wow...it just goes to show how unfair life is.

ummm, i would say there are 3 major possiblities that if you did get in, why you did. 1st, Money, any chance your parents gave the school a donation or something? That does happen sometimes. 2nd, Track. How good are you? They may want you for athletics. 3rd, mistake. Not trying to offend you but from the spelling and grammar in this note, the academics and ECs, there is no way that would get you in, despite minority status.

If none of those, one of your friends may be messing with you. That happened to my friend. He applied to UofM and his bro sent him a rejection letter that looked really official. The next day, he got an acceptance letter.

You can't judge a person's grammar by a forum posting. When I'm in a hurry, I can't even tell what I was saying when I type on here. trackstar23, try calling Stanford and verifying your admission.

You can judge to a certain extent....if the OP could send the text of the letter, and put it on the stanford thread, they would be able to determine if it is a real letter

hi citygirlsmom thank you for your help. (im new on this site) i finally found the Stanford thread and my letter had the same wording as written on some people's posts. ill call the school tomorrow to confirm but hooray!

to MattEisn, no my parents only give to the school they went to so i didnt have any help getting in. i forgot to mention that i did 30 hours of community service over my high school years, that was probably what put me over the edge?

i think this guy is just trying to make the people that did have 4.0+ GPAs and worked hard during high school, feel bad as theyre awaiting their descisions

I really don't think you should have difficulty reading an acceptance letter.
and if you do.... maybe you shouldn't be thinking about college yet.

he says he compared his letter to the one on the stanford board, but no posted the wording of the letter of the thread (at least i haven't see one).
he's either seeing things or a troll.
