Some student representative from USC just called me....on my cell phone. I'm not entirely sure how he got my number (I don't recall ever putting it on the SAT or anything), but oh well.

So yeah, he calls me up and practically begs me to come to USC. Flattery, contrary to popular opinion, will not get you what you want. Saying how great my test scores and grades and everything are is all well and good, but he came off as a bit desperate, IMO.

^agree with madbean. Never heard this before and it is not their style. Check caller ID to know your prankster. USC would not call from a blocked number.

Hookem,
SC admissions will send out letters or brochures as nearly all universities do. It is not their policy to call high school seniors. Frankly, the university had 35,901 applicants for the freshman class last year. Expected this year are over 36,000 applicants for a targeted class of 2600. SC is NOT desperate for students to apply for admission.
I checked with a university official today to make certain there has not been a change in the policy. He guessed a practical joker had your cell number.

No USC student called my son last year. In fact, communication from USC was really superb. My son was impressed with the very nice thank you notes sent to him. Communication was very professional and respectful from USC.

When USC starts recruiting you to come to their school, they will do it on official letterheads inviting you to events on campus. You will know it. They are very professional and highly personal. Desperate people will not be phoning you. Still, if they do recruit you, I urge to visit the campus... you might find you like it there.

My son got a couple calls from student reps at the film school after he was admitted last year, just to see if he had questions as he was making his decision about attendance. I thought it was awfully nice of them to have such a program.
