lol you girls. Keep in mind that you will probably get a scalp rash if you keep it long. But if you really want it long, then do what's comfortable to you.

My BCT flight NCO was female, she used gel to hold her hair down tight in BCT.

Well, you COULD take longer, but I would'nt advise it, trust me. Your classmates will be paying for your lateness, and you'll pay when you get out there.

Plan on having pretty much no hair for the 6 weeks after you get here. Guys literally, girls, you won't have very much more...

I wouldn't start worrying about how you're going to deal with it until you get here and actually get it cut.

thats also right in the morning. usually we waited til after morning pt, while we had our "long" showers, and brushed teeth/shaved then. you have enough time before breakfast normally.

Ok, so us guys can wait to shave until after morning PT? That will help. The less we have to do when we wake up and form up in the hallway, the better.

You may want to at least shave a little, especially if they can see anything on your face. Just make sure it's not overly visible and you should be fine to wait until Hygiene Time after morning PT

hornet, did the girls with short hair get rashes too, or was it just girls who didn't cut theirs? Was it a hygeine issue?

I only remember those that put up their hair. It was a combo of hygiene (oils or leftover shampoo) and the kicker was having it pulled up so tight in a bun. Imagine your hair being slightly pulled for 18 hours a day, for 41 days. Agitates the pores.

So how does a Basic day in Basic go?(no pun intended)haha. Is it PT, then marching, then training of somekind? With lunch mixed in there?

Get up "early", PT for about an hour or an hour and a half, back for hygiene, breakfast, briefings/"other stuff"/marching nowhere, lunch, more briefings/"otherstuff"/marching around, dinner, more briefings/"other stuff"/marching around, hygiene, "sleep". Thats First Beast. Second Beast is basically the same thing except replace Briefings with Courses, and add rifle drill to the mix.

Thats pretty much it, though I'm a bit hazy on it now, it's been a while! (whoa, it's still wierd to think that)

^^^ ditto. Honestly, knowing what its like. If I had to do it again in a month I would be dreading it lol. I'm so lethargic now that having to go all day without nap time or standing for so long seems exhausting (it is!). But don't worry 2011, when its done you'll be happy beyond imagination...until recognition which just might be the happiest day of your life.
