There’s a place on the Corner over by Sakura/across from Boylan/Christians

That’s funny!
Just last weekend I was thinking of where would I get my hair, especially since I get it cut like almost every 2-3 week LOL
Thanks shoebox!

Anybody remember the Hair Cuttery that was on the first floor of Newcomb? I wonder why they closed it.

They closed it? Heh.

Back when I was at UVA and a poor college student I always got my hair cut there, the ladies were really good and funny people. Weirded me out when the changed the name of the L7 too.

Salon Druknya (Downtown Mall) – Tibetan owned; I recommend Jensen.
Salon Cielo Aveda (Barracks) – any of stylists.

Whatever you do don’t go to the barber in Barracks. They are inexpensive but they are butchers.

You mean Haircuttery? Yeah, they totally are.

I believe this is in reference to Staples Barber Shop. For some reason, many people go there (including local celebs like Howie Long).

FYI – when I first visited Barracks, I thought the Staples there was a small store the office supply company had set up for UVa-related business. When I found out it was a barber shop I couldn’t figure why the office guys would allow it to exist.

Turns out that the shop is owned by Ken Staples who has run it since the 50s. Just tape your ears down if you get in his chair. The shop is very busy, especially on weekends and when alumni are in town.

I didn’t want to go there, but since Mech did, I’ll add what I deleted from my original post. Word is the old man doesn’t see so well anymore.

haha thanks for the responses guys… some interesting history we got here :D

Go to Staples Barber Shop, dude. Don’t go to some kind of “salon”. And for what it’s worth, I got a great haircut from old man Staples just last week.

yup go if you want your sideburns to be uneven. I didn’t get the owner I got someone much younger. I’m not picky and I’m happy to give small business my bucks but it is nearly impossible to mess up my hair. Somehow they managed to do a bad job. According to my friends I was lucky they didn’t draw blood based on the divits on the back of my head.
