<p>I assume you’re talking about a free-response item? usually there is a point for the steps and a separate point for the work. You need to find the scoring rubrics for that question. There are no half-points.</p>
<p>In most cases, one point will not make much of a difference, as there are only four cut-scores to separate out a 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1.</p>
