Hallo!

Firstly, I apologize for my first post being in the chances thread. But hey, the order of contribution and receiving doesn't matter too much.

Okay, so I'm currently in 12th grade and I'm applying to:

GA Tech (Regular)

University of GA (Early)

GA State (Regular - Safety)

A very ambitious list, if I do say so myself. I would've applied to a couple more, but I'm generally impartial to where I go to. People are interesting no matter where they happen to be. (That said, I left MIT/Caltech/SCAD off the list because MIT and Caltech are long shots and I likely won't be able to pay for SCAD.)

GPA: ~3.7, I can't recall if that was weighted or not. A special note here is that my yearly unweighted GPA goes in a downward trend towards Junior year because of petty issues that I don't consider important enough to try and explain away. I expect my unweighted GPA to shoot up in the first semester Senior year.

SAT: Aggregate 2150. (740 CR / 800 M / 610 W)
I know why I received a comparatively low score in writing and I expect to move above 700 if I retake it, which I think I should. Unless you would recommend against it for any specific reason.

Extracurriculars:
Well, I tried a lot of stuff through high school. (Including a year of wrestling in Sophomore year, which I shall neglect to include in my applications.) Some of it was crazy. I dropped most of them, but I settled on two concentrations.

Technology-related. Freshman and sophomore year was in my school's FIRST Robotics, helped out a bit, mostly grunt work. Junior year joined the school's defunct computer club, dropped Robotics for it. Senior year vice president of the computer club at this new school and I'm planning on teaching system building (as in building a computer from scratch, stress testing, troubleshooting, basic security), organizing trips, so on.

Japanese culture. Junior year helped the, ahem, failure of a president of an anime club hold things together. I'm joining the anime club at this new school and looking to participate in a leader-role here as well.
--Special note: I know a lot of people do things like this, but I'm also self-studying Japanese right now. I expect to pass the AP Japanese exam with a 5 next year and JPLT 1 (highest level language proficiency test) in the summer between high school and college. Unfortunately, since I started senior year it's mostly impossible to prove. This is what I'm planning as my tool to let them know me better in the essay.

AP Exam Scores:
Macroeconomics - 5
Psychology - 5
Language and Composition - 4
US Government - 3
German - 2 (I suppose I know why. I'm proficient at German but had, uh, a bad day. Oh well. I'll re-take it and score a 4 or 5 come May.)

Special Notes: I believe my unweighted grades once dropped to a D in the first semester of IB English and I may have received a C in IB Math I. Being as arrogant as I was, I made enemies of my English and Math teachers. Which is also the reason I wasn't recommended for HL Math from my Sophomore math teacher, despite being top of the class in terms of raw ability. Not too intelligent in hindsight. Since I can't change that though, I'm not stressed about it. However.

I am a bit confused over GA Tech's self-report grade sheet. It asks for the honors designation of your courses (ie. Honors/Gifted/AP/IB), but IB is defined as Higher Level courses only. Since designation doesn't show up on the transcript itself and the level is officially determined by the version of the exam you sit for (and I can't sit for any of the exams having moved), I'm unsure as to whether or not I should still put IB in front of my HL courses. For that matter, I'm unsure as to what I should put in the designations for my IB Standard Level courses. Anybody have any ideas about this?

The reason for applying early to UGA is that they don't require extracurriculars or recommendations if you do so. I'm applying regular to the other two schools in order to reverse the downward GPA trend and solidify my shaky leadership before I send in the application.

Oh, and 17/M/GA. (Non-Japanese Asian too, but it's not A/S/L/R.) Danke schön. =)

Is there not an edit button?

EDIT: I’m fairly confident I’ll make it into all three schools (or at least one, and I’ll be happy wherever I go - transfer credits!), but the purpose of this post is to check my weak spots and check how much I should shore up just to strengthen my application. Essentially, advice. Of those, I believe my weak spots are my GPA trend and extracurriculars. It would be nice if I could somehow apply after I take the JLPT, but that’s not happening. =)

EDIT2: Oh, so there’s an edit button for replies but not for original posts. Okay.

Like u said, you’re in at all of them.
