I'm a freshman and I'm wondering what actually happens on Halloween? I've heard that everybody is super drunk and walks around on Franklin, but how does that work? I also heard that dorms are like on lock down basically looking for drinking. Do frats have stuff? Do people always drink in their rooms? And since the street closes at 11:30, what do people do after that? Thanks for anyone who can help...all of my friends are confused too.

Basically - you go up to Franklin St. and wander around in the dark with a bunch of randos, and everybody’s dressed up, and some people are really drunk. The End. Also, most of the restaurants/places on Franklin St. are closed, so it’s not like you can really go have a fun late-night dinner somewhere. I went freshman year and then never went again because it just wasn’t fun (the year I went was pretty wild too because it was before they had the police come out in droves). Some of my friends will get dressed up and go up there to just people watch. You will also find that a lot of creepy people (not students) show up, so be wary of that. I think getting in your costume and getting ready to go out is probably the most fun part! From my experience, people will drink before/after at their friends’ apartments and houses. I don’t know how much I would try to get away with in the dorms if they’re on lockdown (although as long as you’re reasonably quiet and you have your door closed, I don’t think it would be an issue). Hope this helps! Honestly, you would probably have more fun if you went to a traditional Halloween party, ha ha. Maybe I’m just old-fashioned…
