HALPPPPPPP

Hello Im a sophmore in new utrecht high school. But I am very very worried. I got 89 average during my freshman year. However my grades start plummeting and I have failed my math class(Algrebra 2/trig) because I am always 5 minutes late everyday. My grades were in 79 to 82 ;/ this. How can I boost this grade to the 95s.I fear my chances of going to nyu is going to down the drain sadly ;/ I have 65 hours of volunteer. I have a syep internship. I havent joined any clubs(Planning to join the national honor society junior year and another club ) and I already started preparing to study for the sat. How hard would I have to work to get into NYU full ride (My parents are very low incomed) Are my chances gone by failing a math class(All because im late 5 minutes everday)

Start by not being late…
Do any extra credit that is offered you. Approach your teachers to ask about any projects / papers you could do for extra credit, or any other advice to get your grade up. Get tutoring if you don’t understand the material.

The thing is there is no extra credit. Most student come in late nowadays so our teacher doesnt even factor in most of our homework. The bigger question is are my chances of going to NYU doomed? I can possiple pass the last 2 quarters but I failed last semester. ( Im taking trig sophomore year)

The only reason why I am failing is because I am late 5 minutes… Were 2 weeks into the second marking period and I got a letter that I failed math

well dude maybe you should use common sense and stop showing up late

Yes I know I should stop showing late… But the real question is my chances for full ride at nyu. That what I really want to know

Before I offer any sort of advise, can you please be so kind to explain how missing 5 minutes of class each day results in you failing the class? I realize that in certain schools if you are late multiple times, there are specific ramifications, but that should not result in you failing the course merely because of that. By the way, what’s wrong with coming to class on time?

I dont know it always 2-5 minutes . My trig teacher will mark me late… She only told me after the failing grade. Like I said the real problem is not the failing class it how it will impact my chances of going to nyu

If you are failing every single of your class, it will definitely, and profoundly, impact your chances of going to any university. But I think you need to complain to your Principal if your teacher is giving you a failing mark for being 2-5 minutes late each day. That is ridiculous.

no I am dooing really well in the other class. Im just asking about nyu in general

As said my current stats 84 total gpa sophmore year . Taking honors chemistry, english, and us history. The only class im failing with a 55 is my trig class. Other than that I am fine. It just that i am asking am I not going to get into nyu? If need to be give me hard stats and requirements of going full ride at nyu

loads of people failed in my class with a 55 for other random reason

No. Math is an important subject, and if you consistently fail it, it will seriously lessen your chances of being admitted to a university such as New York University (and your graduation from high school as well). Also, please refrain from using abusive language. If people are failing for a random reason, then you should have reported the teacher a long time ago.

There are no free rides at NYU. On top of that, you will not get accepted at NYU with a failing grade. Don’t show up late.

Well, that’s settled.

NYC is very stingy with money so no free ride and you would need much higher stats to get any merit aid.

you should focus on trying to get into NYU, which with current stats is extremely unlikely
