I got Hamerschlag (never knew it existed on the list), is this dorm good? Well i know most would say it is how you make it look, but generally is it good?

it's alright. It's a guy's dorm so I can't tell you from experience though. The rooms are kinda small and there's one lounge for the entire building. But I always have fun hanging out there when I was a freshman.

My son moved over there partway through the year and was totally satisfied. They have a really strong camaraderie and the staff is excellent. A number of guys on his floor all decided to room together in apartments next fall so they could stick together. It's in a fairly good location on the Hill. And even though it's a guy's dorm, he said there were always girls around. From what I read on the CC boards last year, just about everyone was fine with the assignment once they actually moved in. The rooms are somewhat small and oddly shaped but that wasn't really a problem for him. On the downside it doesn't have an eating place like Morewood but the Carnegie Cafe is pretty close. On the upside you don't have to cross Forbes to get to class.

From everything I researched last year, you should have a positive experience in the Schlag. And I researched a lot (the only area where I was a helicopter mom).

FYI it is possible to request reassignment if you're really unhappy where you are - the housing staff tries to work out roommate problems etc. but you can fill out a form at the housing office and get on waiting lists for any dorm you like. You have to wait until all the temp housing is straightened out before they go to the waiting list. The odds of getting into a specific dorm can vary greatly, but the odds of getting into any other dorm are much better.
