Hamilton Class of 2017 RD Thread

Hi, I was wondering why no one had started this thread so here it is folks. About a week left for the decision. Best of Luck :)

Yeah! Let’s get some talking going!

Hi @silveralpaca123 where are you from and what are your stats

I’m from Minnesota

Accepted

GPA: 4.0 UW
Class Rank: 3/350-ish?
SAT: 2330 (1560 CR+M)
SAT IIs: English Lit 800, Chem 800
APs: APUSH 5, Chem 5, Econ 5, Human Geo 5, Calc AB 5, Lit 4, taking 3 more

Okay ECs, nothing special though :)

wohh your in for sure best of luck

Hey! Just one more week! Hamilton’s not at the top of my list, but I’ve visited twice (once in winter of junior year, once in fall of this year to do an overnight) and loved it both times. I live in upstate NY, about an hour and a half to the east of Hamilton.

My stats:

GPA: 94.5/100 UW (maybe about 3.8?)
Class rank: Top 10% (56/~730)
SAT: 2350 (1600 M+CR)
SAT IIs: 760 Math I, 740 US History, 770 English Lit
APs: 5 APUSH, 3 Chem, taking Stats and Lit this year

Decent ECs, lots of volunteering.

Haha, I didn’t mean to put “Accepted” for stats. I copied and pasted from another post. Oops! :)

One of my best friends got accepted ED and she’s strongly pushing Hamilton for me. If I get in, we’re going to the same Accepted Students Open House date, where she’s going to try to proselytize me. I hope I do get in but at this point, I’m happier with the other colleges I already got into. Who knows, though, Hamilton might become my new love.

Received email from Hamilton the decision will come out on 28th March at 8pm EST

@alisiddiqui94- Does it mean anything?
Any applicant who didn’t receive this email?

@ognyusa no it’s just a reminder that decision will be out on that date. I think it was received by all international applicants. There’s nothing to worry about ognyusa if you haven’t received such email.

I’m surprised there are not more posts here. I am a parent, unrelated to Hamilton, but have visited and know people who work there and have attended school there. It is an amazing school but its strengths may not be immediately apparent to applicants lacking experience to compare it to other schools on important dimension. The faculty is very productive due in part to good support from the school and very strong students. That means that the students get experiences unheard of in larger schools. In fact, they serve the role that graduate students do in universities. A college student choosing a larger university may work in a lab for a few years under the supervision of a grad student with tons of other college students. Their tasks may be limited to handing out and scoring questionnaires. A college student choosing Hamilton would be working closing with the faculty member who has the time to mentor the student. Eventually the student may propose an independent study. That can happen at larger schools too but typically for the graduate student not the undergrad. The faculty member may never learn the names of undergrads in the lab. This is not true, by the way, at every smaller school Only at the schools where faculty are very productive. That is the case for Hamilton. Choice is all about fit-but I have not seen a lot of PR from Hamilton that expresses what I believe to be a major advantage of Hamilton.

Thank You for the information @Insidelane
Hey folks about 11 hours left I know I am getting my 12th rejection but Good Luck to you all.

So nervous. Hamilton is my top choice but my stats aren’t great. I was too late to apply ED. Here’s to wishful thinking!

@alisiddiqui94 how many schools did you apply to? That sounds painful. I really hope you get in.

@amwowoah being internationals I was expecting all rejection because I was asking for full aid but I got 3 acceptances. But can’t go because they have given me partial aid. I applied to 20 colleges in total and I have lost all hope of getting accepted with full aid. But what ever happens tomorrow I am glad that I applied. Thank You amwowoah I hope you get in too good luck.

Decisions are out! Accepted :DDD! I want to try to attend the Accepted Student Day on April 15th. 3.6 GPA, 2270 SAT, Asian male, good essays and I liked my supplement, “interview” (I did the recorded interview video), and fairly good ECs, if a bit generic.

ugh the website won’t load on my computer. I just want to know!

Congrats @anythingtosay!

Waitlisted. Not sure if I’m going to accept my spot yet. I think this is actually more frustrating than getting a rejection.

Waitlisted D:

3.6/4.6 UW/W GPA
2070 SAT1
760 PHYS and MATH1 SAT2.
Almost no awards
All honors classes
“Good” EC’s
Awesome essay (…in my opinion!)
Interviewed, went well.
