Hamilton College Class of 2023 RD

@Penguins75 nope

@banaynay and @libarts123 interesting. thank you

@Penguins75 mine has the soon as possible for my parent’s taxes but I requested for it to be waived

@Milo321 you can do that, as in, that is an option? if you don’t mind me asking, is there a particular reason why you chose to do that?

I’m a DACA student so my mom, who overstayed her visa and is an illegal immigrant, doesn’t file taxes.

@Milo321 that makes sense. do you think that i could do that if i have a difficult parent (my parents are separated) who will not submit anything and will seriously delay any chance of financial aid, especially since they won’t be contributing to paying tuition anyways?

@penguins75 i think you can submit a noncustodial parent waiver and they will waived the fin aid info for one of your parent. That’s what I did.

btw, I couldn’t log in to admitted student days but I have submit as soon as possible on my fin aid so idk what to believe anymore : (

@Milo321 thanks for the info!

also, that’s ok that you couldn’t get in to the admitted student days. I couldn’t get into it either. they were talking on the forum about how it worked at like 10:30am,and when i tried it at like 11ish am, it said “error,” so idk what any of this means lol. i did see the website change the deadline on that part about the taxes from May1st to “as soon as possible,” so i’m assuming that they were reconfiguring the website in order to prevent loopholes and wonky things from happening before everything is released tomorrow.

@Penguins75 Yeah I think mine said May 1st for a week or two. I hope you get in! Let me know if you need help on the noncustodial waiver!

I don’t think that a NCP waiver in this case will do much good, unless Penguins75 has a more compelling reason than a “difficult” parent who won’t be contributing to tuition. There has to be a reasonable and verifiable explanation as to why a parent will not be contributing. If that weren’t the case, parents would simply refuse to pay, with the expectation that the college will step in and make up the difference.

@Milo321 Thank you and I hope tomorrow goes well for you too!

@BelknapPoint I looked into the waiver on the Hamiton website, and I’m going to call the financial aid office tomorrow about the waiver because it is a little more complicated than he simply won’t pay.

17 hours to go

Hey guys! Did anyone received this at the latter part of the pre- notification update?
Regardless of the decision you receive, we appreciate your interest in Hamilton College and applaud your accomplishments. Please contact our office at admission@hamilton.edu or 800-843-2655 if you have any questions. "

@banaynay and @homerdog if you go into your financial aid portals, what does it say for dates next to tax forms?

Yes, S19’s letter has that wording. I’m sure everyone got the same letter. And we didn’t apply for financial aid so I don’t have a financial aid portal. Sorry @toomanykiddos !

My financial aid list still says January 15th…although I did turn everything in to them before that

@CueMyBafflement what about ur parents tax forms

I haven’t received any email yet.

My daughter who was accepted ED could not get into registration for admitted students day either. When we called they stated the registration is closed till all acceptance notifications have been made, so I wouldn’t take any kind of meaning from the portal on that.

Thank you! I got relieved! @HamSBDad
