Good luck and best wishes that you and your family. Thanks for posting the update.
@hh4 has your daughter already applied and been accepted to UT in the major of her choice? I’m a Texas resident, and while she does qualify for auto-admission (assume she’s a public school?) that doesn’t necessarily guarantee her choice of major.
Yes, she applied to both the UT (and three majors)
Wishing your daughter the best of luck, @hh4.
Wishing your D many great adventures and opportunities for growth at Hamilton College.
Any news you would be willing to share?
She was accepted ! She was admitted as a Jan, so will likely spend her first semester in London, with the other Spring admits. We are so excited for her!
She was also admitted to her second chance major for UT Austin (but not Plan 2). She is proud to have earned a spot at both schools but still wants to go to Hamilton. It’s a great fit for her.
D21 is a freshman at Hamilton, admitted ED1 a year ago. Just wanted to let you know that current on-campus freshmen are really looking forward to the arrival of the Jans! **
I encourage your daughter to come to campus in August for the orientation trips.
Congratulations!
** EDIT - What I meant by this was that Jans are wholly part of the class and will be welcomed when they arrive.
@hh4 , my son is a senior at Hamilton and was a Jan back in 2018. He spent first semester in London and had a blast. Travelled all over Europe. Glad he was accepted as a Jan and had the opportunity to study abroad because Covid hit the end of his sophomore year, and most study abroad opportunities were cancelled his junior year. Best wishes to your daughter!
Congratulations to your daughter!! Several connected to CC who have been accepted into Hamilton in recent years have been accepted as Jans. Reports from the experience have been enthusiastic — it’s almost like an exclusive club, actually.
I hope your daughter explores widely at Hamilton. Regarding London, she should consider taking the AP exam in English literature (if she hasn’t already) to be eligible for the course in Shakespeare.
I hope your daughter celebrates and enjoys this moment. I wish her the best.
