Hampton University anyone?

Hello!

Is here somebody who attends Hampton University? I am really interested in attending this university.

Take care.
Gery

I didn't attend Hampton but I've been to the campus and have a bit of familiary with this Historically Black College/University (HBCU).

Beautiful location on a peninsula.
Historic campus is very traditional looking.
Academics; Not bad in the life sciences.
Students tend to be upper middle class and confident.

Thank you very much for the response!

my sister goes there. i don't know much about it though.

Daughter w/b applying for Fall 2008

I went to Howard in the late seventies and hung out at Hampton. It was the best time of my life!

Hampton is great, but a lot of the HBCU's are. You can't really go wrong.

Can I blame Hotpiece if I hijack this thread? It would be great to have a place to discuss HBCU's and the individual HBCU's in the "colleges" section get's NO traffic so.....

fantastic pep band!

I agree Shrinkrap. CC definitely needs an HBCU section...

I started a HBCU thrad in college search.

Hampton's only decent if you can actually afford to attend the school -- they don't give grants loans or scholarships often.

Actually, one of my best friends was screwed by Hampton. They accepted her, switched their aid due to "necessity" and tried to force her into taking out loans that would leave her in six figure debt by the time she graduated. Screw. Hampton.

I've heard similar stories from other HBCUs. I, and a friend of mine had our applications lost by Morehouse. And we REALLY wanted to go to Morehouse too. The office of Admission only managed to call me during the last few months of April after they checked my transcript (which apparently they didn't lose) and saw that my respectable 28 ACT (top 7% of the class) was accompanied by an equally respectable 3.8 GPA.

They had no interest in me until then. Screw. Morehouse.
