Hand Grading Option---

Looks like they upped the fee to $50 for MC or essay regrade and $100 for both. Extremely high prices.

When I took the test, I had about 3 smudge marks (on the Math section) that I could not get rid of. They were fairly dark. I made an attempt to erase them the best I could and then just filled in my new answer. If only one question was incorrectly marked I would have my score changed from 690 to a 700- Which would make a 1500 M+CR. (I got an 800 on CR.) I felt (I know, feelings are unreliable) that I did well on the math test, not 800-well, but above a 690. Has anyone ever had any success with the hand scoring service? I am absolutely positive that I have smudge marks in "unfilled" ovals in the math section. If I had gotten above a 700 I wouldn't have worried about it, but it seems that the jump from 690- 700 is a big one- maybe worth the $50 risk. Damn, that 1500 would be nice!

I'm contemplating ordering the by-hand scoring service. If there is any change as a result, all of your money is refunded. Plus, updated scores are sent to all the colleges you requested.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not claiming that "there's no way" I could have gotten a 690 on math, it's just that I know that I have smudge marks on the math section- I've been worried about it since taking the test. Any recommendations?

Yea, I was scored 64/80 on the writing, and a 590 on the CR. I am not particularly good at CR, but I felt pretty confident during the test, and usually scored 650+ in practice tests. Again, as you, I noticed the lead from one side of the answer booklet rubbing on to the other side, leaving marks all over the place. I am not sure if it is worth the 50 bux tho, as it was only the first time I took it.

They do say that they refund you if there is a mistake.

Yeah- and that was hopefully my last test. I got a 2220 overall, with which I am pleased. I wouldn't want to retake the 800CR. I think I'll do the hand scoring.

Another question:

How much of a difference will a 700M make over a 690M?

Thanks.
