Hand Scoring

For the Oct SAT...I thought I did 100x better than my last year March SAT, sadly, however...my math scores only went up a bit, and my verbal scores actually went DOWN. On March SAT I left a few blank here and there, but on Oct SAT I left NONE blank (I knew them all) so I was quite confused by the lack of score difference...

I noticed that after I took my test, some of my answers from one side of the inside flap had smudged onto the other side, and while I tried to erase as many as I could before the proctor grabbed it, I'm not only not sure that I got everything, but additionally it might've just resmudged once i folded it back together.

I called collegeboard and asked for hand scoring forms, and they sent them to me..I also asked the lady whether the smudging might've made a difference in their machines, and she said she didn't know.

Sooo what do you guys think...should I get them rescored, or should I just screw it? If even one more question was right it'd help my scores quite a bit (after all we know how much one question is worth)...and If the smudging thing really did make a difference...it would've affected quite a few questions (and I was expecting 100-150 pts higher than I actually recieved)

if you really think you did that much better, you might as well go ahead and pay the 15 or something to get it hand scored

if you're a senior, i'd say do it. even 30 or 40 points are worth the 15 dollars in my opinion ;D

if you really think it had an effect go ahead, especially if you're a senior/this is your last time

yea i am a senior and that was my last SAT1...well i dont know for SURE it's gonna be higher...i just think it might...

hrmmm..and its $25 (which they refund if they do in fact find any errors)

bump bump bump

heres a thought, why dont YOU decide if it is worth it. it is YOUR money, and YOUR score, only YOU can decide if YOU want to hand score. whats the point in bumping this to get more replys, you will get the same answers. just decide. sorry if this comes off as harsh, but its reality my friend, and if you plan on goin to wharton, you need to learn to make decisions.

how long does it take for hand scores to arrive after it is available online?

i have done handscoring because i thought the same thing u did. On my booklet I though the answers smudged through the other side.
I ended up getting both the handscore and the QA service.
CB did the handscore and sent me the letter basically saying there was no change. they didnt say ne thing about the condition on my test or anything. All it really said was what the score report u get home says -- u missed this many math and verbal.
the weird thing is when i did the QA service (which tells u exactly which qs u missed and what answers u put), i was pretty surpised because i was almost positive i put a different answer for math (the correct one) and a different answer for verbal. In fact, for the math one, i remembered erasing the answer they said i had put and rewriting the one i thought i put.
Well to this day i am not sure what my report really says, but i think the CB kinda gypped me. But hey, i would say go for it because atleast it will give you some peace of mine.
O yeah, i also remember that the ppl at ETS told me that the machines are never wrong (BS) and if it were wrong, they would refund your money.... maybe they dont admit bc they r stingy?

CB is infalliable!

Quite a long time. If you suspect an error and have the money, just do it.

if it's going to bother you, i guess hand-scoring will allow you to deal with the reality of the situation- whatever it is
