The entire Olin college is about 340 students. Graduating classes are about 85 students. So realllly tiny (but their association with other nearby colleges helps). Most of the graduates are getting good jobs, or going to grad school (many at MIT etc), or starting their own business. The first class graduated in 2006, so there are not long term results yet.

Olin is definitely a niche-fit. I’d be glad to answer questions via PM or Olin threads. (My son has only been there a few months, but we’ve been researching it several years.)

I wanted to add more general information about group project courses. Here’s an example from CO School of Mines…“EPICS”.

Locally we have state engineering programs at Mines, CU and CSU. The obvious difference is size / variety (Mines is small, w/o non-STEM majors of a university… that could be good or bad depending on preferences). I’ve heard EPICS mentioned as a less obvious Mines difference / advantage.

And if you want any alumni perspectives on Olin feel free to PM me as I was there from the very beginning.

Smith’s engineering department is small, more cooperative than competitive, and requires a very hands-on intro course and capstones for all. They have a nice new building and don’t require SAT or ACT scores, which could be good for your daughter if her scores are on the low side but her grades are high.

UC San Diego has a good Bio-Engineering Program, and has a summer program called COSMOS with a Bio-Medical/Bio-Engineering cluster. My son is at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and had two hands-on projects his first quarter, but he is an Aerospace major (so will also have to endure lots of math and physics classes - although his first physics class involved computer modeling which was both frustrating and interesting. Here’s the link to the COSMOS info: [COSMOS (California State Summer School for Mathematics and Science) UC San Diego](COSMOS Home | Jacobs School of Engineering)
