Handscore verification

What happens if your score, after being handscored, is actually lower than your initial score by scantron? Then, Does collegeboard just give you the higher of the two scores?

Um no; the lower.

Then their scantron machine is just messed up and they need to replace it with another one.

No, the College Board doesn't penalize students for matters out of their control.

Ok Im getting two differing responses....... maybe ill just write to collegeboard

Well, if you read one of the press releases pertaining to the October SAT (the one where they screwed up a few thousand scores) it says the college board doesnt penalize students for matters out of their control so I'm assuming this would fall into that category.

I'm not understanding your question, actually.

I see what he is asking. There is an option for your SAT to be handgraded if you feel that the scanton machine picked up answers that you didnt intend to chose because of poor erasure. But what happens if when you handgrade it the score comes out lower because maybe those erasure mistakes somehow helped you. Which score does collegeboard use? I would assume the higher score because in this kind of case i doubt it would be much higher anyway. Plus you are paying them 100 ( i think ) dollars to do this so if they choose the lower score they would be kinda screwing you over.
