Handwriting and science essays

Does handwriting play a part in the grading? I have exceptionally bad handwriting and i kinda expect the readers to know how to read bad handwriting. The AP bio essays required much handwriting and i wrote pretty badly, but readable. Im guessing that the readers can read it since their job is pretty much deciphering confusing handwriting.

I am pretty sure when graders see your writing they may see it as negative, because they are human, but it should not affect your score, unless your handwriting is like my friends whose IS often ILLEGIBLE.

I have legible handwriting that quickly turns to illegible within the first two essays. I received 5s on my English Lang, Bio, Environmental Science, and Psych APs, which are the most writing-heavy I’ve taken. My Lit teacher, who is an AP reader, says it’s kind of a requirement for readers to be able to read any sort of handwriting. My friend’s, which is basically illegible for everybody our age, was still enough for him to get a 5 on Lang.
