Congrats Merlin. I’m assuming all decisions will start trickling out by mail. I wish the common app had an online status to check admission decisions. Takes too long for mail to travel from the east coast to the west coast.

you mean like in the old days? :-)

The waiting is soooo hard! We are the culture of instant gratification.
srco14: We live in Maine, where life is a little bit slower and I am still learning to be patient.
I hope S2 chooses Clark. He is also very interested in Union College, Schenectady, NY. Union is definitely a bit fancier than Clark. At this point, I don’t think he is able to focus on the advantages of the tuition free fifth year at Clark. Opportunities to play soccer will weigh heavily in the decision, as will FA.
Congrats to all who have had good news! Fingers crossed for those still waiting. :-)

Feels like it. 4 to 5 days compared to less than 1 second by email :-)

I got an acceptance + merit money but never got a personalized letter, so don’t worry if you didn’t.

My son has just declared over the past week that Clark is his #1 Choice. The waiting just became even worse. I think receiving 4 acceptances from other schools raised the ante on the waiting anxiety. Trying not to over-think this, but it seems the only news that is coming to folks over the past few days has been great news. Wonder if the not-so-lucky hear more towards the stated decision time. Thinking positive thoughts! Our local mail is very slow…so maybe that’s it :)

Just got my acceptance to Clark along with the Traina Scholarship (18k/year). Still have to receive my financial aid information before I can figure out where it stands on my list…the scholarship certainly gives it a leg up, though!

Yay, only 8 more schools to hear back from now! Congrats everyone else who got accepted, and good luck to those who haven’t heard back yet! :)

My son got his Clark acceptance letter today, with $15K Presidential Scholarship.

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting!

Hi guys!
I just got my acceptance letter to Clark a few days ago and an admissions counsellor did send me a handwritten note, which I really appreciated. It made me feel like she really cared about my application. I also did an alumni interview that I thought went really well, and the alum’s response to my thank you email was pretty generic as well, something along the lines of “good luck with admissions… blah blah blah”. Anyway, hope this helps!

I ended up calling the Admissions Office and asked them about the decision letters, as I had heard that many students were getting letters already. She said that the only letters that have gone out were ones for admitted students who were getting scholarships. The rest they hoped to send out next week, but by March 30th for sure.
Not terrible news, except for the fact that means my son is not getting any merit, hence may not be able to afford to attend if accepted afterall! Oh dear…what will be will be, right?

Yeah, that is bad news, CCL. I had hoped we would be getting at least some merit aid, though my son’s GPA was not high enough to make that a lock. I guess we’ll have to see what the need-based package looks like…assuming he’s accepted, of course, which isn’t quite a lock either.

Agree, Nightchef. I was actually surprised that they would reveal that over the phone, but pleased that at least I had some information. Just knowing either way at this point would be great. One of the schools my son is a waiting on has an on-line ‘check your decion’. Absurdly I keep checking just to see if they have anything posted, even though the earliest date will be next Monday. I have noticed that they often say one date, but then send out much earlier at some of these schools.
Who knows, maybe today’s mail will have some good news!
Good luck during the waiting period. Glad my son is not as nervous as I, or at least doesn’t let on.

I have deliberately not asked my son for any of the logons for his “check your status” links. I am not the wisest man on earth, but I know my limits. ;)

Haha…that’s funny. When my older son had to check all of his decisions online on March 31, 2008, it was very stressful. He started of course with his top choice, denied…next, denied…next Accepted…next Accepted…next Accepted…and so on, down, to one Waitlisted. It was such a roller coaster. He split the Ivies and felt depressed about it!! It was really yucky to on the one hand be so excited, on the other broken hearted. But that’s the way it goes with those schools.

With my current senior it is such a totally different ball game. With the 3.0-3.3 student you really are at a huge disadvantage in some ways, obviously when it comes to merit aid at LACs. I’m already haunting my 7th grader about being sure he does well so he can take all honors in high school…to get into good schools, and bla bla bla. It shouldn’t be that way…not at all. And I’m sure I’ll calm down by then anyway! Third time is a charm, right? and that son is an incredible artist, so who cares about AP Calculus when your art work is hanging at the museum?? ;)

*okay, the engineers care…my family is full of them!

Has anyone else heard from Clark in the last few days? It appears they sent some acceptances in the first week of March and haven’t sent any after that.

I called them last week about the same thing! They said they hoped to get them out late this week, or by the 30th for sure…sigh.

D received an acceptance letter yesterday (we’re in CA) with a $12K/year Achievement Scholarship. It was odd because it came in a small envelope. Although the $$ and recognition are nice, she has also received acceptances from schools that are higher on her list so I think Clark is now off the list.

My understanding is that Clark did send acceptances this month to some candidates who have been awarded scholarships. I don’t believe this means that future accepted candidates will not receive financial aid or some sort. I’ve also been led to believe that the bulk of the admissions letters for RD will be mailed on March 26.

Ugh…that means another week or more with the mail! Thanks for the head’s up…

Right, but I think a reasonable working assumption is that no merit = bigger gap. So it matters.
