Handwritten Notes

So have any other admits gotten handwritten/personalized notes with any of their Stanford stuff? I got one from an admissions counselor with some Asian American stuff today. Pretty cool.

xxxx-
Congratulations! For you, Stanford for four years will be the longest time that you spend in one loccation! (lol @ the 2 c's in location) You'll be able to learn, grow, and contribute so much with your unique perspective to the world! You'll be part of a supportive, caring family! Please bring your aloha spirit with you to our campus!
Best, xxxx

I thought it was cool how she made it all personalized for me (the part about the 4 years in one place...I'm a navy kid so I've never lived more than 3 years in one place..I wrote about it in my app). Anyone else get any cool letters like this? Care to share?

yep. I got the same thing! Except mine is focused on Public Health.

Yep, I got one from the liaison to Native applicants (and apparently students as well)!
“Hi xxx!
Congratulations! I’ve enjoyed corresponding with you throughout the process, and your application was a pleasure to read. Welcome to the Native community!
-xxx :)”

Yes, she even put a smiley face…I feel so special! haha. :D! Did you all get the congrats from the office of the vice provost and info on study abroad, research, etc. as well?

Congrats guys! Here’s a thread from the SCEA admits, if you’re interested. I’m in there somewhere…

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/stanford-university/637097-letter-regional-director-ea.html</a></p>

Wow! I got one a couple of days ago along with information on some of the opportunities available for African-American students.

Congrats xxxxx,
Stanford is still big, but it has many of the wonderful attributes of a small, intimate research university. You will find many classes and opportunities in the biological sciences and more here on the FARM! WELCOME!

I wrote about how the size of Stanford amazed me the first time I visited it in my “Why Stanford” essay.

yeah I just got that today =]

lol I got another handwritten note. It was my regional director this time. I actually met him at an “Exploring College Options” thing once. It was basically just a 30 second “hello” and then my dad tried to brag at about me haha. He probably doesn’t remember me.

Here’s the note: “Your rare worldview would be a tremendous addition to the Stanford community. Hope to meet you at Admit Weekend…”

Oh, this sounds like what the EA kids got, so perhaps some of us will be getting similar things soon…

and I just read your first post, llpitch…I think us “minorities” got info on opportunities on campus and then our regional director will send us something as well. Cool. I’m really excited for my mail now!

Yay, I was right, I got mine today!!! :)!

“Dear -----,
What I appreciated most about your application is your international interest and global perspective while also maintaining a connection to and pride in your Lac du Flambeau tribal root. Your leadership and excellence in the sports arena is inspiring as is your commitment to diversity and to helping to improve the quality of life for Native Americans. Congratulations!”

I got mine today too!

“Dear ------,
I loved this line from one of your essays: ‘I read, I write, I dream’…
Come do all that (and more) at SU. I am SO glad to be able to offer your a spot in the class of 2013 because I know you will make the most of it. Congrats and hope to see you at Admit Weekend.”

Yay!

^Do you think you’ll attend Stanford??

Um, unfair. I’m a bonafide Asian, and I didn’t get any of this minority info stuff at any time. Jealous!!!

^That’s really odd…are you an EA or RD admit?

I got it today! I’m about to view the Arts Guide 2009. I especially like the Bing Overseas Studies booklet - a solid study abroad program has always been important to me, and this is the most comprehensive program I’ve seen so far :)

heh, my note was really personalized to my app, i have to say it was quite a nice thing to get in the mail! and it gives a face to the admission process for sure.

^ so was mine! It was a welcome surprise. The guy definitely remembered my application very well, or at least read it very carefully, because he wrote me a good paragraph referencing all sorts of details from my application/supplement and telling me how I could use my skills/what I’ve learned/etc. at Stanford. It was very very nice!
