HANSEE HALL: As a freshman?

So recently I have been forcefully placed/assigned to a single in Hansee but I'm a freshman. I've heard that this hall was only reserved for students 19 and above so how did they put me there? Is this bad for me? Also, since the hall is a 24 hour quiet hall, will I be able to have a social life at all? I'm scared that living so secluded from the other freshmen will prevent me from easily making friends. And I've heard that other students stereotype those living in Hansee as 'boring' and is this true or not? Is there anyone who has experience living in Hansee and what are your perspectives on the hall? (It was like my 6th choice and they still stuck me in it)

Try to get a room swap. I’ve never lived in Hansee but the 24-hour quiet hour rule really makes it the dorm you live in when you’re mainly at school to study. For a freshman who wants to have a social life, Hansee isn’t really good for that at all. Try e-mailing HFS about the 19+ thing, not sure if that’s true or not.

My friend was 17 coming into UW and lived in Hansee her first year. She’s returning next year. She didn’t need any special waiver, so I’m not sure about the 19+ thing…

She has a great social life but I’m sure she puts more effort than if she lived in Lander or something.

However, see if you can swap dorms if the freshman social life is important to you. It’s a lot easier to make friends in the dorms when doors are more open and floors lively/loud during the day. =)

You’re so lucky! I’m entering as a freshman too, and Hansee is my top choice. I haven’t received an assignment yet though =( I wish we could trade if they don’t assign me there, lol!

Take the single room and cherish it. Do it. Don’t even think about switching. Hansee is next to the intramural sports fields that everyone uses, across the street from the Greeks/unaffiliated party houses and the next closest dorms are the ones with more social life. So, you’ll easily make friends and then go home and cherish your quiet accommodations and that you could leave the loudness behind for a good night’s sleep.

Seriously, you will thank me later; you may want to try to live there until graduation.

if i were a younger, single student…I’d live in hansee in a heartbeat. What I wouldn’t give to live in a place that’s 24 hr quiet.

But then, i’m here to study hard and get good grades

@travelgirl: right, but also its right near all the fun stuff. I think the only person who wouldn’t enjoy a single in Hansee is Nora’s friend from Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist.
