What exactly does this mean? Do these kids walk around like they're high on something or what?

Happiness cannot come from without. It must come from within. It is not what we see and touch or that which others do for us which makes us happy; it is that which we think and feel and do, first for the other fellow and then for ourselves. - Hellen Keller

I think it stems from a survey given to students directly after graduation that asks: "Would you return to Whitman?" or "Were you happy with your experience?" In short, I think it addresses whether or not people were content, i.e., happy, with their educational experience. Most people would agree that academics and life at Whitman can be extremely challenging but that the experience (with hindsight) is worthwhile and a cause for strength.
