How happy are students in the School of Arts and Sciences at Penn compared to Brown, Yale, Stanford and Cornell? Are students genuinely nice and friendly? Do they go out of their way to help people? I know that some are going to say that "there are nice and sincere people in every college" but the structure of each university contributes to the predominant attitude of its students. I've always wanted to go to Penn and was going to apply ED, but now I think Brown might be a better choice just because of the people there.

go out of their way to help people? you won't find that anywhere in the northeast. I visited WashU in St. Louis and every time we took out a map or just looked lost, someone came over and asked if we needed help. Whereas, at Penn we had a map out for about half n hour and nobody even looked at us. But WashU is extremely laid back compared to all the schools you mentioned (and idk about Stanford)

From my visit at Penn, many of the students I met seemed happy but not very nice.
Those are only the rich snobby ones though.
If it's like any other top university, you will find happy and nice people at Penn, :)

Millhouse- not sure how you can expect someone to just come up to you and ask you if you need help on the off chance you actually need it... if you had asked someone then I'm sure they would have helped you.

OP- kids at penn are really nice i'm sure no worse and no better than any other ivy. well besides pton.. not hard to be nicer than they are though :P

yea my post may have been a bit too negative now that i re-read it. i hear that the kids are nice and happy just I as trying to say that the kids have the same Northeast/city attitude when it comes to what I was explaining before. It was more of just a comparison that I noticed than anything else.

i found the ppl at penn sooo nice on my visit!

Thanks guys. I'm a little bit more reassured now. I was just thinking of Brown because a couple of alumni from my school went there and said that it was the center of universal happiness and that there's a guy who dances and does acrobats on the flagpole and he doesn't even go to Brown. He just stays there because there's nowhere else he'd rather be. Also, the Korean alumni said that the people there tried so hard to pronounce her name right that they knew her name better than the kids with names that are easier to pronounce like John or James. She also said that their interest is genuine. I just thought that the place was amazing and happy and that people are nice, laid back and chill. I just hope Penn is the same!

'm pretty sure brown is the universal center of happiness because they are all high 95% of their free time
