Happy but curious***

Hey I got an offer for the cal alum scholarship..LEADERSHIP AWARD.
But it also says-Your receipt of this scholarship invitation does not in any way reflect on your application for admission to UC Berkeley. You are no more or less likely to be admitted to UC Berkeley because you have received this invitation, and your decision to apply or not apply for Cal Alumni Association scholarships will not affect your application status.
Ok so WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS that would I receive the award even if I didn't go to Berkeley(though its like my numero uno:) choice) And it says at the end that this is for -'2013 prospective students eligible for The Leadership Award'..How many people are included in this list.....Does it tell me anything...INDIRECTLY..
Im just happy, curious and a bit anxious for my decision:) thats why !!!

Hi, I received the same email.

Anyone have insight here?

My friend got it and was not accepted, haha. But good luck, you two!

wutwut…Thanks??..I guess:)
Anyways this is how I see the picture…UCB sent people(borderline cases) a mail asking for more info. I was NOT sent one. So I either fell into ACCEPT/REJECT pile…
Today I got this mail…My question is … why would anyone ask a rejected student to apply for a scholarship:)

I got this email as well. I was super excited because Berkeley has been my dream school for as long as I can remember. I’ve been reading around and seeing a lot of rumors as to what this email means and I’m somewhat skeptical. Some people say everyone gets it, while some people say its a huge deal. My knowledge previous to this email was that this was a highly prestigious scholarship to receive, but now I’m just confused!

I totally agree with @quiverfox though, why invite someone and offer the opportunity to help pay for their education if you’re just going to reject them. There seems to be something much bigger attached to this.

I received the supplemental borderline questionnaire and the scholarship invite emails! I’m sooooo anxious for next month! Cal is one of my top choices!

Probably because the Cal Alumni Association is a separate entity from the admissions office, and presumably uses different criteria for its scholarships than the admissions office uses for admission.

I guess what I’m really curious to know is whether or not everyone gets this email or if people are specifically chosen by the Cal Alumni Association.

I am an international student and the grades my school used was not the same as the American system and I got one D and some Cs (C is good in my system and D is fair). I think I am already rejected but I got the email as well.

and another question, I found the achievement award on the same website as well but I didn’t receive any emails about it. Is anyone of you selected and will be applying?

K…so its better we leave this:( Everyone…well almost everyone’s got this…
All the best guys :)

How many emails did you guys get? I received two for the achievement award and two for the leadership award…

two for leadership award. none for achievement.

The leadership email was given to everyone who applied to Berkeley. When they say it doesn’t mean anything when it comes to admission, they actually mean it. Sorry to burst your bubble dude. I’d suggest applying to it if Berkeley is your top choice though.

[The Leadership Award | CAA](http://alumni.berkeley.edu/services/scholarships/leadership-award)

It is sent to everyone who has a minimum 3.3 unweighted GPA (see Eligibility Requirements)

Which, yes, is probably most Cal applicants

If you didn’t get an email for the Achievement award you probably don’t meet the income cap (gross family income $68k or less)

Hey, I am going to Cal and was emailed by the Association telling me that I was a finalist and that I was going to be contacted to set up an interview, but have yet to receive a call or an email. What should I do?

wait for e-mail for interview place and time

They told me that they’d be contacting me by May 10th, so I’m a little scared :/
