Only in East Malaysia is Easter a public holiday, but in West Malaysia, mission schools inclined to do so will make use of their extra holiday day (all schools get to add one more holiday day to the school calender at their discretion)to take Easter off.

Anyway, as is the greeting in Malaysia, heres wishing all Muslims here a 'Selamat Hari Raya Haji' :D

Eid Mubarak! I think Virginia is celebrating Eid tomorrow.. fun stuff! I'm going to school, but my parents are getting a cow. It's going to be sweet... I prefer lamb though

The Malaysian embassy here (hi, viceice) will receive a goat today or tomorrow. Last like year. Only this time I don't think we'll actually KEEP the goat for a few days at the embassy. Yay! (Cause it smelled really bad...what with the open truck they bought it in and the rain/snow/sleet...wet smelly goat...)

ann arbor news had an article on the front page, didn't really phrase parts of it well... "As a major feast in the Islamic year, Eid al-Adha commemorates the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham in other religious contexts) to sacrifice his son Isma'il (Ishmael) to God. " ... kinda sounds weird. i dunno, maybe it's just me.

Yeeeaaaah uh I missed the whole "celebration" cuz I was taking an AP Biology test.. all the kids who celebrate it missed it cuz of exams... how lame is our school. 2 weeks off for xmas and not even a day for this. This guy said he would not go if she gave him a makeup biology test, so he didn't go because she said she would..and the last makeup test, the science team captain got a 30. :( They are insanely hard. MAY GOD forgive me

Japanese Jew? Heh, that's not only rare... I believe the term is 'nonexistent'! However, white muslims are actually much more common these days.
