In case anyone is browsing for experiences at Scripps, I have to share my daughter's email about her first two weeks, "its fabulous..professors improve with every class...lots of reading and work every night but its a welcome challenge...career planning an amazing resource... sure that my four years here will just be a small part of what I'm able to get out of Scripps...." The note described more about the readings for Core and her other courses, fun stuff, etc. Clearly, she found the right place. We are so happy for her. Makes writing the monthly checks less painful. My husband and I had not seen the campus until we took her out and were blown away by the beauty - courtyards, fountains, etc. Dorm room, though a triple, is roomy with a balcony looking over trees and garden. Dorm floors have beautifulyl furnished study rooms with couches, stuffed chairs, tables, and wireless. You never need to study in your room. By d's report, a respectable number of young men in her Spanish course ( all language courses are shared among the five colleges) and there are always guys in the Scripps dining hall. Looks like it will be a lively and engaging four years.

I'm glad your D is enjoying herself! As a senior at Scripps, I am already getting nostalgic about the lasts - I'm not ready to leave yet!

Though thesis I can do without.

Ditto what momgeh50 said.
Our freshman daughter is also very happy.
She is in a triple and has great roommates/dormmates.
We had high expectations for Scripps and they have exceeded them.

We live 2 hours away and when we left campus on move-in day, she was thinking she would like to come home for a visit within a month. Now she is thinking maybe not. I think we will be lucky to see her at Fall Break in Oct or we may not see her until Thanksgiving.

She has a lot of reading but is enjoying it after being totally lazy all summer.

My daughter just returned from a "Preview Day" and it's her new favorite.

Shrinkrap,
That is great. Was this an official "Preview Day" like the one that will be on Friday Nov 9th, 2007.

I encourage anyone considering Scripps to try to go to this event and if possible the overnight on Thursday the 8th. It became my daughter's #1 choice on Preview Day her Jr year. You get so much more info to see if it is a "fit" than if you just have time to do a normal campus tour.

It was an overnight diversity thing.
