ahem. i have been celebrating pi day since i was in 2nd grade (even before i knew what pi was! all i knew is that my math teacher gave me delicious omnomnommy pie =D)

it is one of my most favorite holidays of the entire year so i just wanted to force you all to acknowledge its existence today (3/14) >=D

let all my fellow pi lovers and/or math-ophiles / majors now flood this thread with fun pi day jokes and trivia! :)
so excited for pie tomorrow =D

okay i'll start: what do you get when you divide the circumference of a jack-o-lantern by its diameter?

pumpkin pi! :D weeee~

way too giddy over here at almost 2 am.. sad but true

ive definitely given up on listening in lecture. i just sit there in lecture with my textbook out doing hw problems and listen to him every now and then. meh

Math major and stoked to celebrate Pi Day. However, by celebrating, I mean finishing all my math problem sets by today or tomorrow. The real reason is so I can relax on Thursday before spring break starts, but Pi Day is also a good excuse to being doing a lot of math proofs today!

I dislike math. Always have. The only time I ever smiled in math class was on Pi Day. So I give this thread my seal of approval. Let the Pi Day goodness commence! Are there any crazy people on CC that have memorized tens/hundreds digits of Pi? There was always someone like that in my classes back in high school.

And crowslayer, you’re actually going to go to Nations and buy a pie for your class/profs? That’s super sweet–pun intended–if a bit obvious Thanks for the info about the free pie!

^ Yeah, I went this morning and bought 3 pies and shared them with a couple of friends and two of my biz profs throughout the day. It’s funny because I don’t like telling people I’m in the math dept (or even just that I like math) because it’s basically social suicide up on the east side of campus, but today I swallowed my shame and sported my math pride to celebrate the joy that is pi day.

And at MUSA pie event, they had a competition where we had to write out pi to as many digits as we could. The winner had like 40 digits, not shabby. I clocked in with a respectable 3 digit submission ;( lmao.

Seriously? Just 40? My math GSI (still undergrad) wrote down close to 100 on the board (memorized first 60 in 6th grade, and rest in 11th lol), and said he would give a bonus point on the quiz to anyone who could beat him haha
