If everyone drank red cups full of bacardi, there would be a lot more death...

At my school, beer is king, although hard alcohol is served at classier tails parties.

People here drink hard liquor before they go out and then usually drink beer to stay drunk at parties. I hate beer, whenever I take a sip I literaly want to puke.

"Are you actually being serious? A beer has the same amount of alcohol as a shot and a Smirnoff has a higher % of alcohol than does a beer. You can have fun for much more than an hour drinking hard liquor as long as you pace yourself and know your limit. Beer is good for a lot more than beer pong. I like to sip on a good beer when I'm studying - not to make myself feel "cool" but instead because I like the taste. Are you actually even in college?"

He's probably referring to the twisted smirnoff versions which are about 5 Proof

haha. i thinks hilarious when people get all worked up for nothing. yes i'm in college. do you know your alcoholic beverages? smirnoff doesn't only make vodka, and there vodka isn't all that great. they make citrus malt beverages, as well, which are 5%...just like the little beers you like to sip on. and beer has the same amount of alcohol as a shot of an 80 proof (40%) drink, and not all "hard liquors" are the same %. and beer pretty much is only good for party drinking and beer pong. there are drinks that taste much better with the same % of alcohol. theres smirnoff malt beverages, bacardi silver line, and mike's along with others. those drinks taste really good, which can be a plus AND problem b/c you don't have the bitter acidic **** taste of beer telling you "hey you are drinking alcohol". i will say not all beers taste as badly as others. coors isn't that bad, but it still doesn't taste good. it's like carbonated water and a hint of pee, not that i actually know what pee taste like, or do i?

i'm not saying YOU drink beer to seem cool, i'm saying most people do it. and i don't mean cool in the sense of "oh look i have a beer, i'm a bad@ss" i mean it makes them more socially blendable (new word i made up) and accepted most of the time if everyone else is drinking.

XANATOS,

haha, yeah, i was hoping most people would get that.

...and YOUNGCUB, i'm a she, not a he :)

...and since when is pi.ss replaced by ****. i understand that profanity should be limited, but jesus, let's live a little.

I drink beer and liquor evenly, simply depending on what i'd rather drink that night and the party I will be attending. Liqour is good and can be drinken many different way so thats good, my favorite being crown royal (however cr special reserve isn't worth the money). However, I also like to drink a beer and it is very versitile for many different drinking games, such as beer ponk and my favorite flip-cup (also a fan of keg stands, personal record 42seconds) and personally I would rather drink straight everclear than a coors light or miller light, bud light is the only "popular" beer that is worth while, since most ppl don't drink beer that actually taste good, which come from small, lesser known brewers.

flip cup. haha. i was playing that and my friend kept trying to flip the cup, but she just kept flipping the air. she was so gone. it was hilarious.

hard liquor!!!

Just remember, "Beer before liquor, you've never been sicker. Liquor before beer, you're in the clear."

From first-hand experience I can say that that doesn't hold, but it's still catchy :)

ew. considering that most often I see kids getting the big cheap cases of Bud Light and Natty Light, I'm convinced that practically no one our age drinks beer for the taste.

Yeah, really!!! At home in Toronto, most of my high school friends had standards: at our (mostly BYOB) parties we'd all bring nice microbrewery beer. Now that I'm in college all people seem to drink is Bud or Miller or Coors or any of your ****ty American beers. So many people I know say they hate the taste of beer; I suspect it's because all they drink is this kind of crap.

This is especially disappointing to me because I personally love beer. It's a tasty drink that's wonderful to sip on--great for long conversations at a pub. But at school I mostly drink hard liquor now, simply because I get a stomach ache from all that bad beer.

Also: I can't understand the people who make mixed drinks with so much mix and so little drink that they can't taste the alcohol at all. If you don't like the taste of alcohol, why on earth do you drink it? Personally, I think strong-tasting stuff is delicious.

I hate beer. I like to get my alcohol down quick and working fast, which is why I like shots better. Even though a shot and a beer have equal amounts of alcohol, you'd have to drink beer impossibly fast, like with a beer bong, to get the same effect as taking shots in succession. And I honestly prefer the taste of liquor to beer anyhow, so I wouldn't want to do that. If I don't feel like getting drunk quickly, I just make a mixed drink - a couple shots of vodka with white grape juice or a rum and Coke tastes a lot better to me than a beer, and works more or less the same.

Can any of you get access to absinthe? (For anyone not going to school in canada...)

That stuff will really mess you up (wormwood makes you hallucinate+190 Proof=fun times)

Because for most college students the point isn't to drink so much as it is to get drunk.

keep in mind that most college students aren't drinking grey goose; the cheap stuff doesn't taste so great

Sanguine... Absinthe only runs around 170 proof... The highest is everclear. However everclear does not contain any hallucenegienics (that is some bad spelling :-P)

^^Only 170 proof, that **** is for pussys. Who drinks everclear anyways, distill your own moonshine, that's where it's at.

on a serious not I prefer beer, but do like hard liquor sometimes too. I'll take whatevers there.

Try 190 proof... It is the highest legal distilled alcohol and is illegal in most states
I wouldn't think that something that could kill you in a few shots is for babies... And besides if you get caught doing a moonshine operation you will be in HUGE trouble...

Everclear isn't illegal in most states; only in some. If you happen to have some, mix it half and half with lemon gatorade and add some red bull; the resulting "Tucker Death Mix" actually tastes surprisingly good for something that's stronger than most hard liqour.

Also, most absinthe I've seen runs between 140 and 160 proof, not 170 - with that said, it tastes like a much higher proof because of how bitter it is.

Fun fact: Why is everclear only 190 proof and not 200? Because if it is any stronger it will suck water out of the air and go down to 190 proof. The only way to get higher purity ethanol is through either the addition of benzene (which renders it undrinkable, obviously) or through complicated chemistry.

hopkinslax-I was being sarcastic, sorry that it wasn't more clear.
