The perimeter shown in bold can be found by adding the perimeter of triangle ADF and triangle BCE and subtracting the length of two dotted lines and DE, or the perimeter of XDE. Knowing that CE = 20, DF = 20, and DE = 10, we find that the perimeter of the three equilateral triangles BCE, ADF, and XDE are three times those lengths, or 60, 60, and 30, respectively. Now simply calculate 60 + 60 - 30 = 90.</p>

<p>1.7.16. g(x) = k(x + 3)(x - 3) has its zeroes at -3 and 3 as you can verify from the graph. g(a - 1.2) = 0 implies that a - 1.2 is one of the zeros of g(x), and this gives a = -2 or 4.2. Since a > 0, a = 4.2.</p>

<p>2.2.10. Triangle PQT and PRS are similar (AA). Then it follows that PT/PS = QT/RS = 8/10 = 4/5.</p>
