Here is what the picture is supposed to look like

The figure above shows the pattern used to lay rectangular tiles of equal size in a certain floor. Each tile has three inscribed tangeant circles. If the radius of each circle is r and the area of the floor is 480r^2, what is the areea of the floor that is shaded?

I get 480r^2 - 3(pi)(r)^2

The Answer is B. Please be really descriptive, because this is really confusing me.

ALSO!! I figured something extraordinary out today. If I do each math section untimed, I get 0-1 wrong. Sometimes each section takes me up to 30 minutes though, as I get stuck on one particular problem for an extended period of time (until how to do it "clicks"). How can I translate this to a test? meaning, how can i get the "click" of how to do it faster? just practicing, eh?

Considering we can't see the answer to B...I would figure it out for you but I'm too lazy to get my calculator and I'm prepping for the ACT. I'll check back in tomorrow if no one has answered this by then.

480r^2 - 3(pi r^2)
r^2(480-3pi)

question 14?or 15?

12R2-3pir2
