Hard SAT math question - Please help

For positive integers x, let the symbol @x represent the sum of the digits of x. For example, @74 = 7 + 4 = 11.

If n is a positive integer and @n = @33 + @17, which of the following could be the value n?

A) 14
B) 34
C) 51
D) 65
E) 86

The answer is E… At first I thought it was 14 because I thought it was asking for value? But now I’m just confused.

@33=6 and @17=8 and 8+6=14 so n is 86 becaause @86=6+8= sum of 33(@33) + sum of 17(@17)
