I have been looking at admission results in the physics GRE forum (you guys probably have heard about it) and the admission results look brutal. Is this how difficult it is for other sciences such as Chemistry and Mathematics?

People with 3.8s and presentations in conferences and such getting rejected at schools ranked 30th. Wow, I feel inadequate with little to show for my research experience. Are publications also common in Chemistry and Math- like would the typical student be coming in with publications??/
