Hard w question

Observations of diverse animal species (show that) the (most successful) in the struggle for survival are (those which) are most (adaptable to) changes in their world.

The error is in show that.

I need an explanation for why it is wrong, I really don't understand.

Are you sure that the word is “observations” and not “observation”? If the sentence is what you say it is, the answer should be no error.

^either what burgerking316 said: Observation - “shows” that
or if you typed every single word correctly, I would say “show that” is wrong because the verb “show” should be past tense? = “showed?”

This is a typo. show that is an error in the original sentence because it does not agree with the subject, observation.

It’s observation, can someone please give me an explanation?

Observation of diverse animal species (show that) the (most successful) in the struggle for survival are (those which) are most (adaptable to) changes in their world.

Subject verb agreement. The subject of the sentence, observation, does not agree with the verb, show. Show must be changed to a singular verb, shows.

If the sentence should read:

Observation of diverse animal species “show that” the most successful in the struggle for survival are those which are most adaptable to changes in their world.

Then the correct answer is SHOWS because the subject of the sentence is Observation and Observation is a singular noun, and since this pertains to subject-verb agreement, the verb must take singular form.

If the subject is singular, verb must be singular
if the subject is plural, verb must be plural
